A neighbor and myself started talking about paintball this past saturday, he told me that he used to have 7 markers that he gave away when he left colorado but he still had one, he started describing it and I litterally started to tear up.

He pulled out an original green splatmaster and asked me if I wanted it.

It has some staining on the finish, I would like to clean it up, but im afraid of washing it in fear of ruining whats left of the original finish, I had heard that they are extremely sensitive and washing could cause damage.

so im here to tell everyone how excited I am, I couldnt stop playing with the marker all weekend, I havent taken pictures yet, but that will come.

Anyone have any suggestions for cleaning?

Splattys are NOT sensitive. They are made from a very strong and durable plastic.

During the 80's they were often used as rentals and held up very well to abuse.

Either just wash it with warm water as is or tear it down first.

My neighbors don't play. One is elderly, the other one is cool. Well there both cool, nothing wrong with the old guy.

I had a Splatmaster back in 1990. I picked up another last year on Ebay. They are great little markers. Don't take it apart. They can be a pain to put back together and its fairly easy to lose some of the poarts because when you do open it, they tend to go flying. As for cleaning, I just run water through mine. There's almost no metal in them at all.

Thats interesting about the finish quality, I swear that I had heard from serveral different sources to be very carefull with cleaning them that it would "ruin" it.
the marker is 95% clean, just that slight staining thats bugging me.

ill get some pics up tonight or tomorrow.

Now I need to find a holster

Oh, yeah! A holster would be SO cool!

Hmmmm, a stain? That's weird! Is it like a pant stain from a ball?

That sounds like a guy I know who found a phantom in his garage (they had it for awhile and he just got back into paintball). And he prefers it over his tippmann.

If the person on the other end of your gun does not walk away from the game eagerly anticipating the next game because of your actions,
you have failed as a paintballer. Put this in your sig to help spread the word.

its exactly that, a slight pink stain from a direct hit that probably was not cleaned up right away.
