His heart wouldn't be able to take the adrenaline rush if he wins.

Agreed.

If he wins, he may not make it through his first term.

So with either candidate, history will be made :-P

Obama: first African American in office

McCain: first Woman in office

Then again, McCain could win presidency, and Biden could win the VP. Generally they're usually from the same party though. We'll see. Just don't complain if you don't vote. I think Tenacious said something about banning you if you don't.

And the oldest man in office. I don't like both of the candidates, but McCain is the lesser of the two evils.

I like McCain 8 years ago when he first came out of the gate, he looked like he could be a real candidate for the independants but something happened over the last few years, he became a GOP poster boy. Not only that but his age has showen in the last year, contradicting himself in the same interview, getting confused, turned around saying one thing then 10 minutes later trying to back track. Not only that but some things he's done in the past is, disconcerning for a man that has to sit in the highest seat in the world. I would've voted for in 2000, but not in 2008.

Gotta agree with Steed- he was a much more interesting candidate in 2000. It's disconcerting, BTW.
If elected, though, he'll probably survive- look at his mom, still healthy and sharp. People tried to play the age game with Reagan, and he used it to his advantage and was not the doddering old man that his opponents tried to portray him as being.

I'm sorry, did we change the election process while I was out of the country??? :P
My overseas ballot only had the tickets together, not individually... maybe I should go back to the U.S. Embassy and,.... NO!!!!

You vote for BOTH candidates on a PARTY ticket- Biden CAN'T win the VP unless Obama is elected.

I don't like that McCain still calls himself a Republican. If he were a third-party ticket with all other things being equal, he'd be winning in a landslide, I think.

I also don't like his age.

I like that he served, I like that a lot. And served well to boot, not just served for the record like Kerry did.

I like his stance on Iraq and his realist attitude about foreign policy.

I don't like that he won't talk to the Taliban. How else are we supposed to win peace if we can't set fair terms of surrender? Granted that's not what the Taliban would call it, but it's what we'd be able to get.

I like that he picked an outsider as VP.

I like that he has both experience and a somewhat radical attitude towards congress -- a rare combo.

All in all I'm about 49% into the McCain ticket, and about 25% into the Obama ticket. I think both candidates are capable of doing an outstanding job, though I do think that McCain would be more apt to succeed in his first term. If Obama makes it through 8 years then by the second term he'll be better. McCain on the other hand probably won't live through 8 years in office.

Why is the age issue so important. Current medical care, combined with the shape he's in, I give him a 95% chance of living through it. That's much high than my extimation for Obama...... not that I'm planing something... or anything like that......
For starters:
I like him because I agree with him most the time (compared to Obama's 3%).
He has a down to earth additude, and doesn't live in fairy world. Unlike Obama, he actually understands whats possible, and sets his plans to accomplish that.
He doesn't lie about his tax plans.

My dislikes:

1. He voted with Bush 90% of the time this last year.
2. He wishes to continue the occupation of Iraq.
3. He has made threats to invade other countries (Bomb, bomb, bomb Iran)
4. He made a horrible V.P. choice.
5. He is another "fiscal conservative" in the same strain as the current President.
6. He finished fifth from the bottom at Annapolis. (His V.P. did much worse)
7. He voted against having violence because of a sexual orientation as a hate crime.
8. He wants to place a bandage over oil, instead of addressing the real problem.
9. He stated he was against torture, and then voted against requiring the CIA to provide information on their interrogation methods.
10. And finally, he's old. This wouldn't matter, except for point 4.

Honestly, I don't see McCain dying in office.

Sure, he's the oldest candidate.. but life expectancy is higher now (his life expectancy is 95), and he'll have the best medical care on the face of the planet.

What's wrong with Bush, I can't think of any major problems there.
2. He wishes to continue the occupation of Iraq.
Even Obama said that it would take him atleast 12 monthes (or was it more?)
3. He has made threats to invade other countries (Bomb, bomb, bomb Iran)
Any president who is not willing to go to war is to weak to be president. I don't another war, but we must leave the option on the table. Also, Obama plans t move troops to Afghanistan
4. He made a horrible V.P. choice.
Palin has just as much, if not a bit more, experience as Obama.
5. He is another "fiscal conservative" in the same strain as the current President.
Don't really know what fiscal means, so same arguement as #1
6. He finished fifth from the bottom at Annapolis. (His V.P. did much worse)
Thomas Edison flunked out of high school. And I had no idea that Palin went to the naval academy.
7. He voted against having violence because of a sexual orientation as a hate crime.
Don't know enough about it, no agrument.
8. He wants to place a bandage over oil, instead of addressing the real problem.
Better than Obama's "inflate your tires" plan.
9. He stated he was against torture, and then voted against requiring the CIA to provide information on their interrogation methods.
So what? Under the geneva convintion we don't have to give terrorist anything, yet we give them the things we would give POWs.10. And finally, he's old. This wouldn't matter, except for point 4.
Argued in above post.

Oh, and I got another one for my list, he doesn't hang out with terrorists.

I'm pro McCain but i have many serious problems with him.

Firstly his stance on education. "No child left behind" should just be scrapped! It's a terrible program that is making our education system go in the wrong direction. Not giving money to 'failing schools' only gives those schools more problems AND it makes students prepare for tests, not the actual material. Trust our teachers and get rid of it!

Energy- I am all for new power soures, but cranking out some new nuclear power plants isnt going to help the country. I'm all for nuclear energy, really i am, but i think we should first learn how to get rid of nuclear waste.

My biggest beef with the man- When Sarah Palin talks i can feel a hemorage forming in my head. The woman is stupid. I am sorrry, i know its harsh but its true. She is absolutely terrible. Why on earth would you ever pick that woman? :headdesk: + ;) = the only way to deal with Sarah Palin.

Deus, i want to know what you're talking about when you say McCain wants to put a bandage over the oil problem? He has a more proggressive view on oil than Obama does.

Edit- Just so you know Palin failed out of 3 colleges.

Yeah, he funds them instead. (He gave the Contras money. Source )

I'm going to get to the rest later. However,

1. "Fiscal" refers to money.
2. Notice I said "My dislikes". I'm not a fan of Bush, ergo I'm not a fan of a man who continues Bush's policies.
