This is why you dont drink and smoke pot and then go for a booze cruize. A call i was on scene for 2 nights ago, with two of my friends. I was second on scene (along with my dad) and had to hold c-spine for my closer friend, Ian. Rylin was the driver and my dad took care of him since he was combative. (theyve released the names and such by now, so its not a HEPA violation or anything)
news story (they got most of it wrong): http://www.wmur.com/...220/detail.html
we should have had medflight for both victims, but it couldnt fly due to fog.

I apologise for the crappy cell phone pics, but i want to give you an idea of what happened.
the far right broken glass is the windshield. to the right of the tree are two brown spots. those were ians shoes (they took em off and had to leave em exactly where we found em. the back seat? thats actually the front seat. his chest was literally wrapped around the tree and we had to basically pry him off. his face was completely broken in multiple spots and plastic surgery wont even fix it. final tally: massive internal bleeding, many many broken ribs, smashed face, and a shattered leg that means hell always have to walk with a cane. HOW WAS HE STILL ALIVE?! no one knows. we thought he was dead when we arrived on scene... and then he started to talk to us.

driver is in better shape, huge cut on his head that he insisted on bleeding out all over me, cracked skull, broken humorous, 5 broken ribs, something else
EDIT: just remembered the something else, i was distracted this morning. 3 broken vertibre at the base of his neck

Drunk people always survive crashes. Cause their body is relaxed. It just bends and moves with no problem. A sober person would stiffen up and brace for impact seeing the impact coming, which will cause them to be injured more. Don't know how it works like that, but it's how it works. Drunks never get hurt more than a few bruises while the mom in the minivan they hit and her 4 kids all die. I have no respect for drunk drivers. NONE. If you drive drunk, then you should get your buttocks nailed to the friggin cross for it. You are endangering not only your life, but EVERYONE else on the road.

It's crap like this that makes me always say you shouldn't give kids a fast car as their first car. Give them a '58 plymouth or some other all steel tank of a car that can't go above 50 mph. They won't get hurt in that, cause it can't go fast. I HATE parents who give thier kids sports cars at 16 for thier first car. They are basically telling the kid to go fast and wrap it around a tree. Every kid i've known whose parents gave them a sports car or fast car ended up totalling it within a year or two. Kids think they can drive fast. They think they are invincible. They think they are ace drivers, when in reality it takes YEARS of driving to get good. Not days.

No kid should ever have a fast car as their first, or muscle car. That is suicide. You are signing their death certificate. Let them learn to drive first on some piece of crap car. After they have learned to handle themselves by 19-20, then they can have a fast car. Only then.

I am sorry for your friends and i hope they come out ok. I am also glad no one else was hurt. As it could have been much worse if they hit someone.

It definetly was a dumb decision, but i garuntee they wont do that again. Im just glad that everyone survived and that they didnt end up killing someone trying to go home for supper with their family.

Really? Sorry, but stupid is as stupid does. My step father(may he rot in hell) was an alcoholic and drug abuser. While he and my mother were married he totaled 3 different vehicles on 3 different occasions, all of them caused by DUI.

Cars are tested with crash dummies. They are limp rag dolls, kinda like the drunk drivers. They roll with the crash, like a drunk driver. Until they develop a crash dummy that can brace for impact, it'll remain the way it is, drunk drivers walk away, responsible drivers die.

Legato, not every Driver that is under the influence of Drugs and Alcohol will survive a Car Crash, even if the driver remembered to put his/her Seat Belt on and if I had access to the pictures taken by the California Highway Patrol, most in The Lounge would most likely freak out and hurl over their keyboards, cus the pics Ive seen taken by the CHP are truly grusome.

There was a girl at my church (this is way back when, I was still in middle school, so at least 7 years ago) who was in a car accident that look like that one. She and her boyfriend were going to see a movie and the boyfriend was driving and (surprise) speeding, doing something like 60 in a 35. He went off the road, wrapped the car around the tree - literally. The tree split the car in half, or at least the part that mattered - the front half. The tree was between her and him when the car finally came to a stop.

Neither one of them survived the impact.

It is an intrepid. I was thinking it might be a Seabring (2001 or so), but it is an Intrepid, according to the link.

Not exactly. Sometimes you hear 'it saved their life', and yah sometimes it did... but if they werent drunk in the first place they wouldnt even have a broken fingernail. And uh... yah... seen some lots o drunk peeps. Not much can save you from granite walls on the side of a highway when youre goin 100 on ice.

alright.
:||:
top left dot is the tree, the others are other trees, || is a road. they went off to the right first and swerved to avoid hitting those trees, overcompensating, drove diagonally across the road, swerved to avoid the bottom left tree, drove sideways into top right tree, and then turned the wheel (too late) to try to avoid it, thus hitting sideways and then WRAPPING still going in excess of 50mph
