@KK
What style AR you looking for? National Match? Standard A2 rifle? Carbine? Mil-spec or commercial? Budget?

S&W M&P's are some affordable carbines (the 5.56 Sporter is just over 6 bones) and for a relatively inexpensive build Del-Ton makes some VERY affordable kits in various configurations.

Bushy's are alright, but I'd really go to local gun stores, Armslist, GunBroker, etc and see if you can get a better brand rifle used. Rock River and Colt would be two of my top recommendations.

@Hobbit
Odd. I saw some @ the gun show labeled as East Euro @ 2/$25. Looked clean enough.

National match. I I already own two Del- Tons, great rifles but I can't shoot matches with them.

Shh, no tears. Only dreams now.

I've had my Cz82 since February, love it to death. I refinished it myself, but need to clearcoat the grips. The 9mm Makarov round is like a suped up .380 or maybe a lower powered 9mm Parabellum. I've only taken it out a few times, but I seem to get better each time. It shoots where you point it for the most part, though surplus isn't very forgiving for groupings- Hornady Crit Defense is where it REALLY shines.

Here's my first time using it, distance was about 15-20 yards.

Same distance, but just last week.

what is the difference in 9mm rounds. I see 9mm makarov, parabellum and all the other designations. Is there any real difference between them. I.E. if i have a pitol in parabellum can i use makarov in it or not?

Noooo no no. The different 9mm rounds are of different sizes and power levels. 9mm is the size of the bullet.

9mm Kurz=9mm Short=9x17mm=.380 ACP. It's the same round.

9mm Makarov is a longer casing, more powder, roughly same diameter bullet. It won't chamber in the .380 (too long), but it might fit in a 9x19, AKA 9mm Parabellum, AKA 9mm NATO chamber.

Pressure levels are all completely different. A .380ACP and 9mm Makarov can be fired from straight blowback action, while 9x19 needs a locked breech mechanism.

And that's without getting into the high pressure wildcat rounds like 9x21 and 9x25. Those are friggin nuclear rounds.

Bought a couple cans of M855 5.56 today, gonna do some experiments. Anyone have a request on targets? So far we are gonna try cinder blocks, a few thickness of steel plates, car door, and see how many pieces of plywood it will go trough. We are saving our milk jugs to see how much of an effect the bullet has after traveling through the targets as well.
