Don't worry about upgrading the reg if your happy with it. The only time that you should upgrade something is if your not happy with how it works or you want to change the prefformance. How consistant are your shots now? If they are pretty consistant a new reg won't let you see much of a difference in prefformance.

CP short reg, SP 360 QEV.

If your going to upgrade, don't do so cheaply. Spend the money to get what you really want. I reccomend a CP Long/Short Reg and a Virtue QEV. I use both and I have never had better preformance, and my Ion runs on 110 psi.

I would just follow what he said.

*takes mental note* CP, then....

I get a lot of dropoff when I shoot fast, so I'm thinking a new reg is in order. Plus, it's one of the few stock items left on my marker, so it's only a matter of time.

Well...
If you have a QEV installed, your reg's pressure may be set too low, so the QEV dumps the air too fast, therfor reducing the amount of air capable of being fed to your marker, so, IF you are running a QEV, then screw your tank in, turn on your air, and adjust your reg's input PSI to anywhere between 160-190, and when you start really rocking your Ion, the QEV will dump the air faster, yet it should maintain a steady 110-120 psi as you shoot.

Now, if you don't have a QEV installed,
Set your reg's input pressure to about 170-190 if your using a low pressure tank, but 150-160 if your using a high pressure tank.

Hope it helps, but if all else fails and you don't have a QEV, I reccomend one, and I strongly reccomend the CP reg. Very cheap from Punisherspb.com (65.00 for short, long, long w/ gauge port, short w/ gauge port)

I've got the QEV, yeah. And about a million other aftermarket internals.

But the gun is sick (like leaking-sick, not like Chuck Norris-sick), so I guess that could also be a factor. I'm just assuming that I'll need the reg sooner or later... but thanks for the tip, I'll give it a shot.
