That's messed up PW.

In Minnesota, if you want a handgun you have two routes: permit to acquire or a CCW permit.

Permit to acquire costs you $0.00, and you'll have it within a week (apply Monday, have Thursday or Friday). Permit lasts for a year, and you may buy unlimited handguns with it during that time frame.

Permit to carry costs money, but lasts five years. In addition to buying unlimited handguns during the time you have the CCW, and may carry any number of them at will (more than one at a time, or different ones at different times, whatever you want).

There is no registration exactly, just the 4473 and showing them a current permit (either) + a driver's license (to prove you're that individual on the permit). Takes maybe a minute longer than a long gun.

Only proof the state has that you own a handgun is the existence of the permit, and since I have a CCW for carrying purposes, it's no extra hassle to me and it's nothing new to the state.

Is it the most free? No, but could be worse.

Interesting trivia, Minnesota has no state level laws concerning NFA firearms, so buying a short barrel rifle is just a matter of getting the $200 stamp from the ATF and you're good to go. So far, I've stuck with "normal" long guns and haven't bothered with that legal mess though, the ATF strikes me as someone who'll take my money and not give me my stamp.

fun fact on concealed carry in MT. The law is stated "Concealed by clothing".

I was informed, by a LEO, that it is legal to conceal a handgun in a fannypack or backpack. Just NOT concealed by clothing. Packs are not clothing!

Hmm, keeping one concealed under the flap of a messenger bag would definitely be handy. A few strong elastic bands would be easy to rig onto it to hold it flush.

Nice! I shoot a PSE Kudu Heritage recurve bow with no sights or rest. But I don't make my own arrows. I use carbon fiber arrows with feather fletching for the time being.

Been a while since I have used it.. but its a lot of fun.

Welcome back to the fray. T-H just got a nice traditional longbow, and he's looking for a Fletcher, or at least a source for handmade arrows. I used to own/shoot several bows, as well, but life got in the way. Last time I even touched a bow was a few years back at a Ren faire :)

I think I need to look at a M-N sniper AND a bow, now. Good thing I got that fat tax refund. :)

I wonder what my tax return is... it might be waiting for me back home.

BOOZE AND AMMO!!

Not really though...

Well. No. Of course it will be in part used on booze and ammo. I'll just stick it in my account.

Ya know what sucks :) NM requires you get your CCW within 90 days of taking the class, but because of FL not getting me my birth certificate, I am going to have to retake the class...

Considering getting into some low volume accuracy reloading with my next rifle. Anyone have experience with these two basic, inexpensive presses?

Under $30 each, I could even get both if I wanted. And plenty of Dies, brass, powders, bullets, and primers. :)

Time to roll my own.
