I think spec ops has all aspects of a functional team covered and people seem to be stuck in this "super specialization" mode by trying to come up with new positions that aren't pratical for everyday use. I thought this forum was to disscuss actual senario ROLES like team commander, medic, and so on, instead i find people trying to label personal styles of play. Yes, there are people who like to run up and get plastered in paint but that doesnt mean it should be a position, if that was the case then the little kid that just sits behind his bunker in the back might aswell be a position. Again, people trying to label personal playing styles . Just go out and do your thing! who cares wut "position" you play.
I love this show

I myself don't care what positions they come up with. BUT DON'T BASH A FOWARD OBSERVER!!!!!!!!!!! Thats my job people. I AM the eyes and the ears of the Infantry and Artillery. Granted an FO nposition in paintball is stretching it, but someone like me with the actual training can be of service to a large senario command. I can communicate, Judge distance, navagate without a GPS, shoot and move like everyone else if not better. Too bad there isnt paint artillery or close air support. I could wipe a quarter of a front line out with just my raido. Maybe thats why My life expectancy in real combat is only 5 sec.........OH yea, I lived through my time in Iraq as an FO!

well it's been my opinion that they should change the name of the hammer to heavy weapons and to then include cannons and other goodies to that category

Either that or make an acctuall Ordinance class. Becuase even tho most classes carry a few Nades almost no one carries mines with them and they are an aspect of paintball that needs to be included, Also if I'm not completely wrong cant Rocket launchers be used ans an Area of effect infantry killer??

I think that many people are getting too hung up on the labels of their positions. Go ahead and have a designated name for your playing style, just remember the game's about eliminating your opponents (and of course sportsmanship and having fun). If you eliminate your opponents/fulfill your role so your team can eliminate your opponents, that's what matters most.

The the 50th time.....

THE POSITIONS ARE GUIDELINES TO HELP SEPERATE YOUR TEAM EVENLY ON THE FIELD. EQUIPMENT IS A RECOMMENDATION TO HELP YOU ACCOMODATE YOUR CERTAIN AREA ON THE FIELD. THE DEFINITION OF A SNIPER COULDN'T HAVE A DT BECAUSE IT'S TOO BULKY.

GUIDLINES.

GUIDLINES.

GUIDLINES.

GUIDLINES, TO A BETTER AND MORE ORGANIZED TEAM.

Moving on...

Yes, I have noticed alot of stupid positions coming up (Decoy...being one of them...), and I agree with you.

-Mitch :dodgy:

You spelled guidelines wrong.

But yeah. People should just chill with all these positions. Because honestly, I don't think Spec Ops really gives a poo. Plus what if they DO make your position into "An official SpecOps position" Do you feel "complete" or something?

Yes, a lot of people go way over the top on positions. But I believe they can be used effectively. For example, my team splits up into roles or "positions" because of the way we like to play, or the gear we have. I play a lot of dagger, because I like being the "Glory Boy". When we play in tournaments on local fields, it helps to split up into squads and use positions for organization. But we do not at all adhere so closely to the guidelines laid out by SpecOps that we become weak and one dimensional. So I think positions aren't required, but they do help. And even when you use them, use them lightly. For example, when making a flag run, my team calls on me to go for it, because I am quick and good at shooting on the run, etc. When we need some cover fire, we call on one of my buds with a heavier gear kit, and he acts as a "Broadsword". But otherwise, we usually are all "Sabers", except when called on for a role best suited for us.

I don't think we need "Medic" or "Grenadier" as a position. However, I think we need a position called "Scenario Specialist" or something. That way, everyone who plays these positions can log their play under that.
