Leatherface, Resident Evil 4, Dawn of the Dead, Gears of War....I think we all know what these have in common.

What I'm wondering, is when did chainsaws first appear in this light? Texas Chainsaw Massacre is the earliest that I can think of offhand, being released in 1974.

Does anyone know of any movies/books/comic books that first used chainsaws as bloody killing machines before Texas Chainsaw Massacre?

I got all excited when I saw this thread because I'm a logger. Then I opened it and saw it was about movies that I don't watch.

Wish I could help ya, but I watch comedy.
