Great, I just downloaded and almost installed the 2.0 software update, and now it says iTunes store cannot be accessed. I love you apple; leaving me with a brick until you fix this slight dilemma.

Sounds like fun.

On a slightly more positive note the iPhone was made available in Canada this morning. They began selling them at 8:00 am ET.

As cool as it is I'm not signing a 3 year contract.

I agree...iPhones are a ripoff. And yet...people still buy them. A friend of mine once commented that owning anything Apple is a status symbol, like an SUV. I think he was right.

helpful too i guess(knowledge is power), but was wondering on what iphone the problem was,lol thanks anyway.
if its a first gen-im guessing this is the prob:interface lag, crashing apps, hard resets, ect.
got this from endgadget-the .ipsw in question was meant only for 3G phones and not first-gen units — and bizarrely, the build number of what we’ve got is 5A347, while our launch iPhone 3G is running build 5A345 on them.

Meh... iPhones. I have a Dare and love the thing. I'd never get an iPhone just because Apple makes them.

you can call people with an itouch if you jailbreak it.

You add a VoIP and mic then as long as you're in a hotspot you can call people... for free.

Can you name another phone that can do the same things...

With the ease the iphone can...

I'd like one, but I figure if I wait a few months I can get it pretty close to $350 from eBay without the contract.

Apparently Apple's servers are creaming themselves as people try to activate their new phones. Oh, and don't get the new update for the old iPhones and iPod Touch. Apparently due to Apple's server problems, it has the effect of rendering older iPhones non-functional as the original poster just noticed. This is SOO much better than just buying a real MP3 player that costs 1/3 as much and buying DRM-free 320k MP3s for the same price as Apple's locked songs, and a phone that actually works. :panzer:

Apple is the perverted shepherd to its flock of sheep.
