I was just wondering how often you should replace the lens in a mask. I've had one of mine for almost a year and was just wondering cause I lend out rentals to my freinds and I really dont wan't the lens breaking on them. I've got Extreme Rage X-Ray masks and these Winchester ones as well as a J,T. full mask for myself.

agreed...the way i see it $30 a year to protect my eye sight is a well worth investment. It is like insurance for your eyes. If you value your eyesight, you will do the above. It isn't that much, a day of work for a young kid, few hours for someone older. Well worth the investment...i LOVE being able to see, don't know about you. :D

If you are stingy and think, "hey my eye sight isn't worth $30 a year" then hey that is your call, good luck when you get the eye patch. :P

woohoo lego good post

generally i define 'hard hit' as when the ball hits hard enough that it leaves a very circular scratch in the lens- not very deep or anything, but where the paintball hit. ive seen it on many different lenses of mine, just hold it up to the light.

i wouldnt go running around worrying about every hit to the lense, they are designed to take that. but when theres a scratch you know it hit hard and weakened the lense at that spot. lenses rarely break, but better safe than sorry.

I had to replace my grills lens after 6 months because I would play a lot, and they ended up scratched to hell. So now I replace them twice a year.

It also doesn't hurt to buy an extra lens or two just to have on hand if you don't have one already. You never know when that one perfect shot during a game is going to be the one that starts a crack. Or you accidentally step/drop or otherwise break a lens when cleaning it. It's unlikely, but possible. You also don't have to go looking for a replacement when you need one.

or your dad moves your mask to the counter and the dogs get it... funny that the only thing they chewed/broke was the lense

Either change them once a year, or when you get shot within 10 ft..

I need to change mine...

I replace mine atleast once a year, depending on the amount of scratches. I always have scratches from gog shots, moving thru the underbrush, or just being unlucky enough to have something hard on the rag I used to wipe them with... but no cracking whatsoever & the scratches are all superficial.

At a minimumn you should change your lenses once a year. If all you do is play once a month or so, that will be good enough. If you play every weekend and recieve a lot of goggle shots I suggest changing them at least every six months.
