I had it painted in plain tan Duracoat before but wanted to break up the outline more. I used some light tan & flat brown Rustoleum paint. I made the stencils by tearing one rags/ paper towels. Do you think it breaks the outline up enough?

OK I'll reply here... IMO It looks OK, I would've gone a little darker with it. But then again, I don't know the natural cover or vegetation of the area you play in. You should take a pic with it where you play, or even just set it out and step back and look at it. That'll give you the best idea of what will actually work. If you redo it I'd use painters tape or cut some patterns out of cardboard to make the stencils. Do what you like best. But just keep doin it, cause you'll only get better the more you practice and try different techniques. Oh and if you can put a rocket cock on that thing I would do so ASAP.

The spotted pattern works well in the dead grass & brush I play around this time of year. It looks alot lighter in the pics with the flash then in sunlight. The really light tan is a great match for the grass around here. I did the 'snake skin' paint job over it yesterday to darken it a little.

Better lighting.

Ah that second pic shows a little better. I would say improvement!

I think you did an outstanding job! that snake skin gave it another dimension. Remember, the idea is to break up the natural silhouette of the marker. You did that with the first paint job. It doesn't matter if you use paper towels, rags, or whatever, as long as the pattern breaks up the natural outlines of the marker. The colors you used are fine. You win!!

That's one of the best DIY paint-jobs I've seen on here in a while. I think the first stage looked a bit better, but that's because I've seen so many "snakeskin" paint-jobs lately.

Again, very nice. Thanks for sharing.
