from a SP press release, now found all over the internet:

Quote

Smart Parts Temporary Closure

Smart Parts Inc., undergoes temporary closure for restructuring during the month of January 2009.

Loyalhanna, PA – January 6, 2010 – Paintball manufacturer Smart Parts, Inc. is temporarily shutting down all manufacturing and sale operations in order to facilitate a corporate restructuring. During this time, the company will not be able accept or process orders, ship or receive products or perform repairs. The restructuring process is expected to be completed by the end of January 2010.

“It is important that people do not send equipment in for service during this time,” said company Vice President, Adam Gardner. “Our buildings will not be staffed during the restructuring, so there will be no one there to receive packages. They will automatically be refused and returned to the sender.

“To the players, field owners and store owners, please know that we appreciate your support and are looking forward to a fresh start for the 2010 paintball season. We apologize for any inconvenience this short closure may cause, and hope to make it up to you in the future.”

Smart Parts, Inc., is a leading developer and manufacturer of equipment and accessories for the sport of paintball.

Probably good that I did NOT order that SP-1 I was looking at...

The smart corps have been around a while. I joined em before I joined spec ops and I joined SO in late 2008. Its almost as old as the SP-8, as you can probably imagine from all those pics and propaganda.

thier not closing. this topic is getting so old, regardless of what smart parts has done and hasnt done, this is a huge blow for paintball as a whole. get off the hate smart parts band wagon already. they are relocating to asia, this does not mean closing. stuntman there are still alot of parts available for sp1 and will continue to be available.

I noticed the date. I also realize that when I write checks and fill out paper work in January I keep wanting to put in last year instead of this year.

Just to clarify, wait to the end of the month for something to be posted.

Do not bother listening to what you hear "from people who know", or read on these different "news" sites. It's all hearsay at this point, with the majority of the rumors being mostly perpetrated by the anti-Smart Parts establishment. I was just talking with Darryl Trent today about this. So with that being said, wait till the end of the month for some real information.

Yes, I do know what is going on. I have been following the different threads across the Internets, and its all being based off hearsay. Believe me if you want, if you don't, frankly I don't care to be perfectly honest.

I'll leave you with this, my team's track record for making smart business moves speaks for itself.
Coming soon.
