What are Goggle Visors for exactly? To keep the glare out of a player's eyes? I've recently noticed some people don't wear visors on their goggles for some reason....I've been playing Paintball for awhile now, Its just always evaded me so I decided to put this in the Newbie's corner section.

My lenses tint in the sun and untint in the shade so there is no need for a visor.

I think its all just personal preference. I've played with my visor and I've played without. I usually don't with it in lower light conditions, it helps me see a little bit more.

I always use a visor...
I dont see too good without sunglasses most of the time, & the visor helps keep the sun out of my eyes.

I personally wouldn't use a mask that doesn't come with a visor, even if it is overcast out.

They serve quite a few purpose. If its sunny out they keep the sun out of your eyes. They also keep sun glare off your lens which can help you stay concealed. If its raining they keep water from getting through the air holes at the top of the lens system. Most importantly, if you set your mask down or drop it the visor keeps the lens from rubbing or scratching.

I stopped using a visor because it was in the way when I would peek downrange from behind hard cover. Woodsball is my favorite and the sun isn't a big problem in the sticks. I think the only bad part to playing without a visor is missing out on those nice bounces that catch ya on the top of the head (oh yeah and its obvious apps).

I don't use one, I just use a tinted lense. If it was araining I might but I'd probably just find something else to block the rain.

Visors may limit for field of vision somewhat, but you don't have to be looking up frequently anyway. They help keep splatter and water off your lenses, but more importantly, they keep the sun out of your eyes if you do't have photochromatic lenses.

the visor is as much for protection from the elements as it is protection from paintballs. Before I began wearing a headband with a little padding there, I took my visor off a couple of times in order to make my "profile" smaller as I was snapping out from behind a bunker ( no tell tale visor bill ) .. and got plunked right at the top of my forehead .. ouch !! lol .. it is kinda funny now, but it swelled up like a mouse and was embarrassing as crap .... so i kept it on until i got a nice padded headband .... now i don't wear one ... even in the rain.

The only reason I keep my visors are for rain. I just dislike them.

I recently started using the OMNIPAT goggle cover from SO. I like my fabric camo visor cover minus the visor. It provides shade, reduces glare from lenses, no increase or decrease in ball breaks and adjustable too.
