so to recap. Cut grip off with rotory thing, get the tapping thing, tap the body, and attach the tac rail. Correct?

There is more to it than jus Tapping and attach a Rail....take your marker apart and you'll see that there is a Gap to where a Verticle Tube Line would be if you used an X-Chamber, that area should be filled in, if one wants to attach a rail to last longer as well as sturdy...I recommend using J&B Weld to fill in that gap (both Body Halves), grind it flat so when the Body Halves together, it will make a Perfect Fit, from that point on, drill and Tap in the threads afterwards.

yes sir. thats correct.

So right now, there is a hole in the bottom. What is the cheapest way I could fill it, on 2 conditions. 1. I styill need tobe able to take my marker apart, and 2. I still need to be able to tap into w/e I fill it with.

i did exactely the same to my 98 custom, did it with a hacksaw.

it was messy but ive got to grind it down and make it nice and smooth.

i want to add a hand guard like an A5-A2.

where can i get one for my 98custom???

otherwise im just going to have to leave it with tape covering the hole, which is lame!!!

It is rather simple.

I still do not know if there is enough metal to hold the screws. I don't know if I will be able to tap this... What do you all think?

PM me for steps Mop.

Thanks evil. Hey you did this to your 98 right? Did you fill the hole in afterwards?

Steps are up now, seeing that I have had a few people PM me about it. I still need to know what I should fill this hole in with... any ideas?

ok... I've run myself into a problem... The top hole for the rail needs to be tapped right into the middle of the hole... Now I know I need to fill this hole with something that will not bind the 2 halves of my marker together, and something I can thread a screw into. I was thinking Bondo... but I'm not entirely sure.

Here are the pics

^ as you can see the hole in the 98c is right where the bolt fastens the rail tightly to its component. (This is right next to where it is on the marker to show the problem I'm having.)

Please list solutions for this ASAP. Thanks!

Eureka!
Okay. So, light a candle. take some of the melted wax and rub it on the inside of one reciever half. Actually, forget wax, use like. . . vaseline, or any kind of lube or oil or whatever. Then, use a putty (is J&B Weld a putty?) that bonds with metal and put it all over both reciaver halfs in the vicinity of the hole ( rubbing lube inside the hole with your finger. :) OMFG). Let it dry or whatever it does. Then the reciever half with the lube should come off, and the other half will have a block that fits perfectly and can be tapped.
