Do you think it should be on your brigade hompage (REF) so you can say stuff like im a master ref, or a basic ref, and maybe even get colorful ref patches to ware on the field, to say hey im a ref, and im a brigade member!?

"Ref" is one of the only new position ideas that actually worth doing. Ref work can be hard, and they deserve a cool patch of their own...

I've also reffed more than I've played over the past year or so.

I thought about this awhile ago! You can enter play time as a Ref.. so why doesn't it show up on your 'positions' bar?

I think it would be a neat little addition.

that wouldn't be half bad. you might as well have it on the positions cuz u can log ref time. which is sorta ironic.

I'd give them that. Ref also is probably the only proposed position that isn't scenerio specific. Ref's can be used in all styles of paintball. Also we know for a fact that refs get better with time and training. So sure they can have a ranking.

I agree. I mean why not have it be part of the positions. Afterall you can log in time spent as a ref. It is a very demanding job as well. Especially when dealing with private groups. You have to constantly watch and make sure no one is removing their goggles on the playing field. You also have to make sure everyone has their BBDs when in the staging area. Even though it is a private group you have to be on your toes for cheating as well. Many of them don't understand the rules so they keep playing even after being hit. On top of all that you have to make sure everyone is having a good time.

I concour. It would be a very good idea if the Ref position is added to the Brigade page.

I'll be a Ref for SuperGame XXXV, so this idea kinda works well in my favor.

I think its a great idea to have the REF as a position on the Brigade. I started playing paintball and after playing 10 years started a field that we run as a nonprofit field. We have a large turn out every week but its all volunteer run so many times I am not only operating the field but doing hands on ref training with new workers, etc. I will most weeks start by reffing and working with the volunteer refs then when I feel that the games are running smooth and safe I will play on the underdog team to encourage them and help them out. I also let the refs get in on the action the same way. Letting them enjoy both sides. When I ref alot this leaves my brigade player points down. But its all for the fun of the sport!!

I used to ref for the paintball field in Augusta and I logged a whole day of reffing as a single game (in most instances, if a game ran for several hours, or if there were 2 separate groups I would log them separate). I got much better as a ref during that time not to mention, it helped me with my playing skill seeing how people moved and having to dodge the "unintentional" shot that came my way.
