I'd like to see Scout added to the roster. In the spec ops field guide, it shows (under Strategies: Reactive Strategy) scouts racing ahead to moniter enemy positions. It would be cool to see this as a full fledged position. Post what you think!

Answer this question:

"How is a scout different from a dagger?"

A scout's gear would be similar to a dagger, although the jobs are different. A scout goes out and descretely moniters the enemy forces :ninja: . He would pack light, but he would also wear a ghillie to stay hidden.

Maybe, but scouts could be a cross between a sniper and a dagger. Mobile like a dagger, but more equipped as a sniper. IMO, a dagger is the guy that breaks the stalemate when your team runs into the other. He's not really equipped to be a loner. The sniper is, but is hampered by mobility. The scout should be able to be quick, but hold his own until the calvary rolls in.

Thats what I was thinking of doing once me and my buddys start playing more (probably spring). The scout would be valuable to the team but I dont really see it becoming a new posisition any time soon. But thats no reason not to try it out

A scout would be someone with communatications to the team, binos, and something light like a Tippmann 98, modded to the mission, thats a good scout.

you have failed as a paintballer. Put this in your sig to help spread the word.

A scout (or recon, I guess) would be almost exactly like a combination of the sniper and light rifleman postions. There are light guilles one could buy. The scout would go light on paint, light on air (he/she isn't suposed to be seen, so in essence not supposed to shoot either).

I think you pretty much have it, but I'd add a pair of good binoculars, and light pants. Maybe have a 3-D leaf blanket in the scout's pack so he can stake out a base, but still be able to get in and out of a situation quickly when needed.

this would be a very good position, but to me it sounds an awful-lot like a sniper, b/c aren't snipers supposed to do that....but then again snipers aren't dedicated to stuff like that.....maybe snipers and scouts could work in unison like Marine Sniper/Scout(or sniper spotter)

it would also give some help to snipers, like if the cover is blown, two people doing a stepped retreat can take out more than just a sol sniper.
or if the sniper has been given the objective to eliminate an enemy commander, scout helps cover sniper, while the sniper gets the commander.

:ghillie: I've actually had the chance to play scout on my friends land in the moutains and it isn't anything like an definitionof a scout your not stationary for more than you have to be, and you have to be a very expeireinced player I would think, just because you really have to fend of any opponents by yourself with your nearest teamate at least 300 yards away, but it is a mix betwwen sniper and dagger i just carrried a pump in there, a phantom to be exct and i was fine, but i would suggest if you are going to play this position to go ahead and buy ghille, a good wlkie talkie system binoculars, hydration tank probably the most important because you move so much, and maybe a paintball pistol. :)

yeah for this position you would need a nice ghillie, a pistol, good communications maybe a throat mic so you can stay more quiet and i wuld think if you used burlap or some light material like it you could easily make a stake out base thats camoflaged with your surroundings.. you would know when the enemy base is empty.. if that helps lol

The thing is, if you move around a lot, the purpose of a ghillie is defeated. A ghillie is meant for being completely still (because nobody is going to think you're just a walking bush). There are different types of good camies that are very mobile, if your captain assigns you to a specific attack squad (to monitor).
