Hey all.

We were chatting up at the field a few weeks ago about the CSSPL. Mostly about how cool it sounds as well as how darned expensive it is just to enter.

So we were thinking about starting a challenge cup. Something like how the original Stanley Cup started. For those of you who don't know check out this link (pay close attention to the History section).

http://en.wikipedia....iki/Stanley_Cup

It's still early in the planning, but so far we were thinking this:
• someone challenges us for the cup, our field, our paint (no charge to get in)
• you win, you take the cup, but we get first crack at getting it back at your field, your paint
• best of 5 format (attack/defend, attack/defend switch sides, capture the flag, center flag push, last man standing) 30 minute games, all out in the woods
• 10 man teams (bring a few replacements)
• each team will supply refs (team members who aren't playing that game)

Now there is no prize money involved, just a cheesy trophy and bragging rights. We just want this to be a fun day of paintball, with just a little competition thrown in.
We will start a web page to track the travels of the trophy.

So what does everybody think? Would there be any takers? Let's hear what you have to say. Good idea? Bad idea? Any suggestions?

Will this work with multi team at the same field or will it be only the field team allowed to defend or win the "Cup"?

Sounds cool by the way!

Only two teams at a time. The host team (whoever won the cup last) and the challenging team. Any team can challenge. Theoretically the cup could change hands 50 times a year.

We started something like that with BC Tactical its called the BCBL or BC Bushball League. It is more like today's hockey than the old challenge system. Check it out http://www.bcbl.net, we are not charging to be part of the league, games can be played on commerical or non commercial fields, on non commerical fields the games are BYOP and free. We are going to start this spring. We are in the process of setting up divisions and teams, we are going to buy a trophy and at the end of it all, thats what you win. Check out our rules and use them if you want. The idea behind it all was having our own form of beer league hockey but paintball.

What we are talking about is not a league. At any time there would only be two teams playing for the trophy. We are trying as hard as we can to keep this purely for fun. With a little competition thrown in. Leagues are too much work. Scheduling, refs, and all the other crap that goes along with it. We just want a few simple rules after someone else wins the cup.

No round robins. Just two teams having a good time.

Sounds good. I might steal your idea and give it a shot out here in BC too.
