Vforce tests their goggles with a 12guage shotgun from about 20 feet
JT shoots 1/4" steel balls at their masks at 400 fps.
Empire shoots steel balls ar the lenses at 450 fps from 10 feet for testing.

:aah: I think Vforce wins that round...

Basically, it calculates the speed of a moving object, much like a cop's or baseball coach's radar gun.

A chronograph "chrony" is a radar gun that measures the speed of things. In our sense it's the speed of a paintball in feet per seconds. It's nothing more or less than that.

That's why i bring my handheld chrono to the field with me. I can set my velocity and just walk up to the ref, shoot over his, then get my band. I don't need to shoot over his chrono, get out of line to adjust, go back in line, try again, off, go back out to adjust. I can do all my adjusting before hand. Saves me like 40 min at some scenarios where chrono lines are long.

That sounds like a good idea Legato. I should probably get me a hand held for that very reason.

95% of people with a flatline think it makes the gun more inaccurate. if you are the other 5% who take the time to sit down and tune it right put this in your sig.

$65-130. Low end ones are like $65-80. They will tell you your speeds fine. The costlier ones can tell you BPS also as well as FPS. Any truly serious modder or paintballer should own one. Specially if you like to mod and tweak, it helps knowing how fast you are shooting.

Man the first time i went to play with my new ariakon the pressure from the factory was so high that it reached more than 600 so i couldnt play with it, i tried to get it lower by pulling the pin to the bottom but it didnt worked so i went to the store and they told me is a common problem the solution was to cut a small piece of the think thats inside the marker so i did and now it works perfectly without problems and i can configurate it from 100 to 500 but i usually play at 250-300.

Edited the original post to remove dead pictures and a link to a now-defunct retailer.
