Sniper or PMI I. Pumps FTW.

and honestly, if this is stressing you out just choosing a marker, you need to step away for a week or two and get yourself straightened out. Nothing in PB should stress you out. It is a hobby, not a job. Once something stresses you out, it's time to walk away for a bit and get a clear head. :D

i agree, i don't even know why i am stressing. I love my ion (yea i said it) it is reliable and so muchfun to use but there is a compulsive part of my brain that keeps telling it to buy another gun. i just got a pm from ghostman on a tac 8. if the price is right, i'll prolly buy it. if i get it and don't like it, i will trade it for one of the others. that would be kinda funny if i traded a tac 8 for like 5 splatmasters :(

Not easy to reload at all. Unless you buy many of those $50 mags. If you're looking for something with paint ingrip, wait for the tippmann pistol. Mags are going to be cheaper, its going to be cheaper, and its going to be lighter. Hopefully its quality won't match those of other recent tippmann products.

ok i am bout ready to go clinically insane. i cannot make up my mind on a certain marker. i list why belowz:
tib 8- great marker, great fun, easiest reload in the game, and may be useful in a scenario team that may happen at my school
overlord- inexpensive pistol, easy to maintain, again with the scenario team, and comes with mounting rails for a lil customization
sniper- great reviews, many possibilities, dead on accuracy, less on paint, and its pump. what more do you need?
splatmaster- started the game... nuff said B)
automag/mag rifle- more great reviews, very modable, mag rifle- epic scenarioness, fun to use, yet downfall- quite expensive, yet great resale value
pmi-1- brass ftw, dead on accurate, great reviews.

please help me with this, i actually almost broke down to tears over this the other day (yea, i know) and don't suggest an electro cuz i am quite satisfied with my ion, unless it is about a gun you have that you would be willing to trade for an ion that would be in my favor. :P but please help. i need this one guys. and please give me flaws in some of these guns that is what i am sorta looking for right now you never know, one post may help kickstart my paintball experience in the right direction. so please point out flaws, more pro's and other things in each marker (and by that i do not mean my ion :D )
-G

Yo eggmann,

you should pick a marker that best fits your playing style. If you are a silent stalker then go for the sniper, but if your a blazing angel of death then you might want to go with a different marker. :P

If you like pump, snipers are great. If you're not a big pumper, go with the mag. You don't need the magrifle conversion, it's a solid marker out of the box.

Or get a nelson based pump. Like a Buzzard. (thought I was gonna say phantom didn't ya?)

no, i didn't. i think i might get two splatty's or somethin. then maybe trade those two for like a crapy autococker and put a pump kit on it. then trade that for a tib 8. then trade that for an automag. then trade the automag for a pmi-1. then trade the pmi-1 for an overlord. then trade the overlord for my 2 original splatty's. repeat. :P

yeah, if you're looking for a semi, go for the mag.

If you want a pump or pistol, I'd rate them in this order:

1: Sniper for OC, PMI-1 for SC
2: Splatty
3: Zeus
4: OverLord
5: Tiberius 8

Or you could get a cheap OC Phantom then buy some SC stuff for it...

Ok...

T8: Yes, easiest reload if you have extra mags. Reloading paint is no easier than any other pistol out there. Changing CO2 without the quick changers is impossible on the field (no tools allowed). You say it will be perfect for a scenario team, so from that I'm assuming you'll use it mostly as a secondary/back up. If so, choose another pistol. It's far too expensive to sit in a holster 95% of the time. If you are going to use it as a primary, you'll want probably 3 total mags minimum. Plus a leg pouch or other method of carrying your mags. Expect to drop ~$400 for a primary setup. Tac 8 is by far the best pistol available.

Overlord: Not worth it. Overall not a good pistol. Zeus G2 is better, Miltec G2 is better than the Zeus. Miltec info: http://www.mcarterbrown.com/forums/sidearm...-miltec-g2.html If you are using your pistol as a backup, then either of the G2 is a better buy than the Tac 8. If you are using it as a primary, Tac 8 is better. Just as a comparison, today at the field my Tac 8 shot 22 shots on a 12 gram at ~270. Over the chrono, a 4 shot string shot 269, 272, 269, 272. The Tac 8 is EXTREMELY consistent when fired at a moderate rate (gets some shoot down due to the slightly slow recharge on the reg). My friend used his Ariakon ACP (basicall the same as the G2, stacked tube blow back). He got 8 shots at 260. Granted it was very cold out (40-45 degrees), which explains the crap efficiency on both guns, but on a good day my Tac 8 can get near 4 full loads (32 shots) while the ACP get about 20. Overall stacked tube blow back pistols get poor efficiency unless you know how to really tweak them. There are just so many flaws in the design for 12 gram use.

Sniper: No more accurate than any other gun. One gun being more accurate than another is largely a myth. It comes down to a good barrel, good paint, and the shooter's skill. But they are good pumps. Definitely one to look at if you want to get into pump. Can be had for not a whole lot ($150 and up usually, used).

Splatmaster: Only good if you want to play old school. It's mainly just fun to play with a gun more plastic than metal and rock faces. I wouldn't get one for anything else than just a gimmick to mess around with and really challenge your skills. But you could pick one up and one of the other cheaper guns for less than one of the more expensive.

Automag: Forget the mag rifle. Looks cool, too expensive and not practical enough. A regular mag is always a good choice. Proven design, great performance, great reliability. But, of the guns you've listed, it's the most like your Ion (semi auto with a hopper). So it won't be a huge change and won't test your skills as much as a pump or pistol or pump pistol.

PMI-1: Again, no more accurate than any other. Maybe less so because paint sizes are generally shirnking and it has a fixed barrel of a somewhat large bore (.690 if I had to guess). Expect rollouts without wedgits from Palmers. Brass is nice, but when something goes wrong (and I say when because a marker of that age will have issues) parts can be expensive or hard to find. Not a real practical choice unless you get a good deal on it.

I'm not voting since in the end it is your choice. I hope the info we've all provided will help YOU make a choice. Don't go by the poll. If you are going to use the pistol as a backup, first I'd recommend getting something completely different since you will hardly, if ever, use the pistol, at least not enough to make it worth it. If you are going to use it as a primary, the T8 is the best option, but also the most expensive. If you are going pump, the Sniper is the better, more practical option. The mag is the most like what you have and will offer the least amount of difference and variety. The Splaty and PMI-1 aren't that great of choices IMO because of their age. Only get them if you want to try the old school stuff.

i would have to say splatty but i just picked one off ebay today and im super excited about it...

if ur just looking for something as a loaner, pmi black maxx or icon x's work wonders. Get a Splatty for old school, pump, pistol style points. Any pump is.......a pump. Anything else, someone will wreck their havoc on you for not choosing a pump ;)
It's only a game, you don't need to be afaid of anyone, except for ONE person. Its not the teenager with a marker worth more than your car. Its not the SPPL player with about 35 BPS firing rate. Its the 40 year old guy lying in a corner, taking a nap before the game begins. His camo will probably be old, and he will most likely be toting a pump. He's been playing since before you were born, and if he mentions how much he didn't like when he had to play with oil based paintballs, make SURE he is on your team. This guy is a ghost.-Match99
