New Propper MARPAT ACU cut review.. pics

im a camo whore

anyway, just got these in the mail today, and im vary impressed so far.. they came treated with DuPont Teflon, not sure how many washes it will last, but its nice.

they dont come with the upper arm Velcro or name tag Velcro []

they are 65% Poly / 35% Cotton Battle Ripstop, they are not heavy like the winter weight camo twill. they feel a "little" heavier then standard all cotton ripstop.

the color under standard lighting is the same as the issue USMC marpat, but under the flash the brown looks a bit lighter, but that can also be caused by the fabric differences between the USMC twill and the battle rip.

the pattern of the camp is the same as USMC

and at the cost of 25$, they are OUTSTANDING..

and with Propper soon to be offering a ACU in official multicam, i cant Wait

when summer rolls around, ill do pics of all of these in the woods..

65% Poly / 35% Cotton Battle Rip - $24.99

Okay lemme give my take on the Propper MARPAT camos.

Montydoom (My brother) is a coach for a Youth Scenario Team. He purchased uniforms for all of its players as a form of him personally sponsoring these kids. He chose MARPAT camo because it REALLY Works extremely well. So he purchased the majority of the uniforms in used Official Issue, but the sizes that were unavailable he had to get Proppers.

First thing is first.. After two washes they fade... DRASTICLY. My official issue MARPAT has maintained its color for over a year, and already the Proppers are DRASTICLY lighter in color than the official.

Next thing is weight. The Propper has to use a fabric that is strongly similar in durability to that of the Official MARPAT as the officials have not only a patent on the pattern, but the fabric as well. However... This means that the Proper MARPAT needs to use a HEAVIER fabric to get the same durability. This in turn spells HOT HOT HOT in the summer.

While the Proppers are okay.. they just don't last like I feel they should...

Spend the extra money and get the REAL THING.

Nothing beats the real thing. I was going to buy some knock off Marpat online, but I decided to hold on. Think I might go to Quantico this weekend and pick up a set :P

real as in USMC issue?

in the cammo pattern, you should see small 1/4 inch USMC logo's "EGA's"

EGA meaning "Eagle Globe and Anchor".

I just ordered a set of Propper ACU cut MARPAT for myself a few days ago. I'm a little disappointed in the brown color there but oh well. I might put up my own review when I get it.

Anyone know where you can get an iron-on or sew-on velcro kit for name tapes?

94% of the people on this forum have an annoying statistic in their signature. If you think that's ridiculously stupid, or even if you're a part of the 0.5% that couldn't care less, put this in your sig.

There are more than two. Looking at the Desert cammo I'm wearing right now, I can see four EGA's. Also, the USMC Marpat has a black tag on the blouse with a red and gold Marine Corps symbol on it. Othere brands have their own tag. The trousers just have a plain brown tag with the size info.

Don't strain yourself, bro. It may not be there...

Guys, the true MarPat fabric is printed with the EGA logos at regular intervals. How many appear on a particular garment is strictly the luck of the draw, because it depends on exactly where that particular blouse or trouser was cut from the bolt of raw printed fabric. If there's at least one EGA on your uniform, it's the real deal (or the cleverest forgery on the market, for the truly paranoid...).

:)
