Seriously, we left a model 98 out all winter in a cow pasture. Cleaned it, oiled it, and it works fine.

Post your best "Beat the crap out of my Tippmann" story here.

Tippmann's are the best! Same story here except a little more shelter and a lot more time. My cousin got bored of paintballing appearently. One day he put his 98 back together after a cleaning, put the bolt in backwards, couldn't charge it once it was assembled, called it broken, didn't bother to crack it open and see why, threw it in a leaky old shed left it through at least 4 rainy winters and 4 blistering SoCal summers before I took it back. Opened it up, laughed and shook my head with suprise and mild dissapointment, turned the bolt around, wiped it down, oiled it, it's been running great ever since. I've had it about 3 years now.

I challenge anyone to try it with anything else (clones don't count).

EDIT:

I've never even replaced a seal in it come to think of it...

Never had a tippmann, but I'll always think of the video where they run over an a-5 with a car then pick it up and shoot it...

Dude that is f*cking awesome!!! Hahahaha!

I thought he was going to be very carefull not to hit the cyclone with that car... but he wasn't! He wasn't carefull at all! He ran over the sh*t out of that thing! Hahaha! Firing with chamber and cyclone filled with dirt, "Yeah, it doesn't like that."

I love these things! Once I was running as fast as I could through a dry riverbed, slipped and was about to eat it hard on the rocks. So reflexively stuck out my hands to try and slightly break the fall, not realizing that my A5 was in one of them. Smashed this thing full force barrel first into a big rock with my full weight at the speed of a dead run coming down on top of it. No effect.

The same day I actually dropped it in a river, fully loaded. Pulled it out, and kept on playing. The accuracy suffers when the paintballs are all wet, but once you reload it's good to go! Anyone who thinks anything is generally better than a Tippmann is entirely too kind to their paintball guns.

That's unbelievable.

All paintball guns should be as tough as real guns. Why? We treat them the same way.

My paintball coach on top of being the coach also runs retreats for a summer camp, plus stuff like birthday parties and scuh...anyways, the guy has about 20 Tippmanns, for the past 4 years probably...his cleaning ritual has been to once a year drop the entire gun in a top of burning hot water, leave it for a while, and then throw them in a box for the winter. he had me clean them this fall...completely rusted on the inside, but even like that they worked fine...I cleaned em though...but yea, no matter how gross those things get, they don't break easy...

Tippmann's are fun. If I place in the tournament this week, I'm gonna use the cash to get a 98. Just to mess around with.

I'm working on a mod to make 98's (and theoretically anything with a sear trigger) inherently automatic. That means no auxilery systems, no batteries for e-grips and no air powered response triggers. Just automatic. Don't know why no one else has done it first.

Anyway if I get it to work I will give you all a heads up... In fact, I'll make an M98 Evolver thread!

What everyone says about tippmanns is true. They are heavy, loud, clunky, inefficient, etc. And all those fancy markers they mention are better in all those ways. But the difference between them is like the difference between a Jeep and a Porsche. Seriously, who would want a Porsche? Gimme a Jeep any day.

They can only go as fast as all the other cars on the road (speed limits). And they have to STAY on the roads. Jeeps are not limited in that way. My brother had one. We drove it....places.....

Shiny is overrated. ;)
