Right now I've got a 9" stock barrel for my tippmann.

I'm thinking about buying the 4" C-series, I would go for the end game if it were instock but no. Only problem is the field we go to also has a speedball type field only with pallets and I'd like to be able to give long range support, being a dagger is the stupidest thing to do on that field. But on the other two fields its short to medium range.

You are probably thinking 'buy both' but I don't have the money to buy two different barrels...

Buy a hammerhead sharktooth barrel, they rock.

And if you think your field is more of a back man field, you just need to play it less aggressively, or have you back men shoot more paint to get you up further.

I cut my stock A5 barrel down to 3 inches and polished it with a Brillo pad.

it was free and it is much more accurate than my stock barrel was.

I like the idea of cutting the stock barrel. But that leaves me with-out a half desent long range barrel, What happens if I take out the barrel adapter and play with no barrel?

Oh and I always play dagger except for when I'm on that pitch, I then act as a lightweight back man for running in at the last second to grab the flag.

No barrel? Your paintballs will go like this. Pshht. *Plunk*

I suggest either cutting the stock or getting one of those really short C-series.

Whatever barrel you get, do not get anything longer than 14", after that its a waste and the length of the barrel really doesn't improve accuracy but it does get in your way.

With a mag the paint goes 20-25 feet

But heres my .02. If your heart is really yearning for a short noisy barrel then get a Hammer head. Otherwise my reccomendation goes with a 12" Dye UL.

If you are going to cut the barrel make sure to remove any burrs on the inside of the barrel...

aw but the look on his face would be priceless when all his balls break :D I would recommend between 4 and 5.5 cuz you dont need anything shorter than 4. but than again I wouldnt recommend cutting your berral.

Ok, I just got my paycheck and it's looking good, I might get both by the looks of it. Maybe the 14" later but i'll buy the end game or c-series 4" depending apon the availablity of the end game...

Well, let me save you one worry right off the bat. Unless you're getting something like a Flatline or Apex barrel which puts backspin on the ball, no barrel is going to make you shoot farther. There are only 2 things a new barrel will help you with.
1) Air efficiency - If there's less space around the ball as it travels down the barrel, you'll use less air to push the ball out at 285fps
2) Accuracy - This comes from having a smooth bore and not having the ball bounce around inside the barrel as it travels, producing a straighter and, more importantly, a more consistent shot.

I definitely wouldn't bother with cutting your stock barrel since there are too many things that can go wrong. While a decent 8"-14" barrel would be a great upgrade for you (longer barrel's really only gonna make it a little quieter and not by much), you might look into the possibility of getting a barrel kit. In the price range you seem to be in, I'd recommend a J&J Edge barrel kit. This will allow you to match the size of the paint you're shooting to the correct barrel back or barrel insert, thus getting rid of that extra space around the ball I mentioned earlier.

If you get a barrel kit and don't know how to size your paint, just ask and I'm sure someone here can help you with that.

Happy shooting!

i rock a 14" barrel just fine. In my opinion, 12" is ideal, with 10" being about as short as i would go. 12" is the happy medium between air efficiency and accuracy, not to mention sound report. I've rocked a 5" barrel in the past. It was accurate, but loud as hell and had horrible shot drop off at longer ranges.

The A-5 wouldn't even recock itself, lol. Cut down stock barrels are excellent. I know from experience. I had better accuracy than I did when it wasn't cut down. It's kind of weird but that was just my experience.
