If they didn't touch them then it's not inappropriate. "We won't touch you, so don't touch us" is the general rule at haunted houses.

Thanks to my living in Atlanta, Georgia I get to go to "Netherworld" which is rated as the countries scariest haunted house. Fun stuff.

They can crowd around you as long as they don't touch. I hate the ones that just stare up at you and don't move outta yer way.

I've worked at a few haunted houses. The funnest one was the Haunted Forest up by you Salty, at Sherwood Hills. We were warned tho not to get too close to people. One of the managers told us that the guy that had my character (the hunchbacked bell-ringer) the previous year jumped out at like a 12 or 13 year old kid and landed a little too close to the kid. The guy was 50 something and this little kid was so scared he knocked him out cold.

They also had an outdoor living room set up with a couch, tv and bedroom behind the couch. They would play Nightmare on Elm Street movies on the tv and the actor was a girl just sitting there on the couch, watching the movie. Then as people walked by, Freddie would jump out at her from the bedroom etc...etc. Well according to the same manager, the previous year (again) they had stopped letting people through for about 20 minutes so the staff could walk through and give the actors some doughnuts and hot chocolate. Well, when they got to the girl and Freddie they couldn't find them for a second. Then they looked at the bedroom set and there was Freddie and the girl...on the bed. Apparently they had decided to take advantage of the lull in patrons.

Depending on the type of touching I'd have to disagree with it being inappropriate.

Back in high school we set up a haunted house in the gym. Heavy black curtains set up the maze and it was lit with nothing but black lights. I was dressed as a zombie. people would walk past me, I'd groan and moan and heard them to a certain spot along the wall where I'd reach towards them and say, "Prepare to meet your doom!" At which point someone on the other side of the curtain would reach through wearing a black glove and grab a shoulder. It was great.

If they signed up for the "extra scary" part you suggested, it may have been in the waiver. But if they didn't then bah, it's in the gray area.

Psh haunted houses, I'm going on a haunted ship! The USS Salem is putting on a "really scary" Halloween celebration/haunted ship. I just saw the commercial, and it actually looked pretty good.

I'll be going! But I doubt that it will be too scary. Scary was when I went into the Ashland Stone Public House, formerly the Stone Tavern, and did some rookie paranormal investigation....scary stuff. There's supposedly 7 "spirits" in there. I went with a friend who was into all that stuff, just to see if he was screwing with me. Turns out he wasn't. I didn't believe in ghosts then, but I do now. I almost got hit with a huge beer mug that was "thrown" at me, among various other stuff that happened that night. Lol, I didn't sleep well for days.

I can't wait for the haunted ship!

When I was in fourth grade we went to the fire departments haunted house which was very well done. It scared the poo out of us and we walked but a coffin and this zombie (fake) pops out and my friend almost craps himself and nails the thing with his skateboard. It then slowly went back into it's coffin. There's also another thing of this dude (fake again) like puking into a garbage can. I don't know why but it's really freaky. Note that the whole thing is lit by strobe and black lights.

if she didnt want them to she should have just used some force. i accidently hit my 6th grade gym teacher at a haunted house at the school, he jumped out at us from the side and i kinda elbow'd him in the face by reflex. he didnt think it was very funny though. lol

edit: kinda like this.

Yeah, around here they have the "we don't touch you so don't touch us" rule as well. But there are a couple of "exceptions". The last haunted house I went to a week or so ago was not too bad, there was one part where you walk along a solid black wall, with your hand on it for guidance as it is very dark. But one or two of the panels in the wall are made of fabric, and there are actors on the other side pushing their hands out against the fabric, so you're walking along with you hand on what you think is a solid wall, then it starts moving....it was pretty original I think, I'd never seen that before.

And as for the actors that won't get out of your way, there may be a good reason. Perhaps the next room isn't ready yet, or maybe something else is going to happen in the room that you're in. Or maybe they are just going for that extra creepy factor. Most times if you just walk toward them, they will move at the last second to avoid touching you. They are kinda like playing chicken with you, you expect them to move so you can go by, and they don't so you're just standing there like, "duuurrrr". When in reality all you have to do is keep moving and they will get out of your way.

The best thing I ever saw was at a haunted trail a few years back. You went through the whole thing, which was pretty good, and you are walking towards the exit back into the parking lot, and everyone is joking about how so and so got so scared or jumped so high or whatever. Then, about 10 feet from the lot, a guy JUMPS out of a TREE with a chainsaw and chases you back to your car. Now, when I say jumps, I mean from a height of 7 or 8 feet high in the tree. In fact, you walked right under him, and he hops down just behind you when you think everything is over. It was great.

That being said, being in a haunted house is a lot of fun too, I was one of the chainsaw guys at a trail a few years back, it was a great time. I didn't have to do too much, just hop out, start the saw and run around a bit screaming. Some of the other people actually had to act, I was just being myself.....

I went to a haunted house with my two sisters, my sister's fiance, his sister, and her friend. So, we get through this first haunted house where we are forced to do creepy freaking tasks, and cornered by a freaky little girl who wouldn't let me go (god, her eyes, make them go away). We get to the end. But, we signed up for an extra part, that's supposed to be really creepy. We go through, they tried to split the groups up in to single people, and we get to a "Hillllllllllll billy" and he takes my future brother in laws sister. We thought she would go in a different direction, but she didn't. We didn't know. We get to another guy, who takes her friend. This guy, takes her as his "slave girl" and takes her. We figured she had to go another path.

Well... we get to the end, we're waiting outside for like ten minutes for the other two girls, and they finally come out. We asked what happened: Apparently, they kept them, put them in corners, and crowded them there. One guy kept trying to kiss her on the neck. The hillbilly threatened to eat her. Apparently there was another girl who actually got licked (seriously), but she asked for it.

Is this a bit beyond the lines?

My opinion is a maybe.

totalyuncalledfor and inapropriate. it can probibly be catigorized as sexual harassment.

i was in my towns haunted house and it was just people go in a single file line and all my friends made me go in the front because i get scared easily. ok. so this guy pops out with a chainsaw (without the chain of course) and grabs my shirt and raises the chainsaw over me. now im a big guy 5"5 213 lbs. and everyone says i have huge broad shoulders so im not weak. i pull his hand off me and shoved him right to the ground. he was laying down wide eyed and crawling away. heres me, standing 5"5, with a 300 pound fully grown man crawiling away. my friends said it was the funniest thing they ever seen. especially when i got kicked out.

yeah well i would voted "yes" but i didnt read your story and assumed that it was if i like haunted houses and i want to be an actor for one  that sounds too much like rape. i would have went and found the guy and scream at him, then take it to the manager. sexual harassment much?
