Hard plastic will take a reasonable beating before flex additive stops working miracles. He was talking about soft rubber. In the example of metals, some paint companies use flex agents in their car paints. What do you think makes your paint on a newer car more resistant to chipping from rocks or debris hitting it? Flex agents.

The process is totally different, but the flex agents are about the same. If they can take a rock at 50mph, I'm pretty sure a paintball traveling around 280fps from a safe distance away wouldn't be too much.
