So for those of us with inclination for wanting the next greatest and newest thing to hit the market we watch for signs of coming goodness.

Some signs are brightly lit neon shows of exclaimation...highlighting a name and drawing the drool from the lips of countless players.

Other signs are quiet little announcements leading to hasty posts and word spread across the net.

Then, there is MacDev.

On their home page for some time now there has been a small little note on the bottom...

Project D is coming.

Now I have been fortunate enough to use a few Cyborgs and that concreted me on picking one up as my next supergun once my trusty Intimidator died again.
Well...it died....again.
I was hoping to hold out for the '08 Cyborg, thinking that they could only do one better as they have in the past.

Then this "Project D" pops up...lighting the imagination, and many a thread across the web. But I have yet to see it mentioned here!

So here lies the question....What is Project D!?

I can't wait to see what comes of this. Macdev makes great stuff and i have no doubt that this will be any different.

Although I'm guessing it is going to be a another mid-ranged marker if they are following the trend.

Well...if 'project D' works for you as well as or better than the cyborg...you'll be paintball god...

(recalling your performance on downed pilot...what was it? 20 tags? of course...you were the only one of us not wearing a bright red shirt...)

Macdev Release said:

Project D set for release at PSP World Cup 2007

MacDev have been secretly working on this for over 2 years, with work done under the name Project D. For all those team members and contributors that have helped to keep this quiet, thankyou very much, and for everyone else, we are now proud to release some advanced info.

Droid.

Project D is a new gun designed and manufactured by MacDev, we have named it Droid. This new gun is not a Cyborg, and it is not intended to replace the Cyborg. The Cyborg and Droid will both be available, and the Cyborg has a very bright future, with a new model set for release in the first quarter of 2008.

The Droid will be set in the high end bracket, with a retail price of over $US1,000, it will be an alternative option to players who want to have a high quality and high performance single tube paintball marker.

The details.

The Droid is designed to breathe new life into the single tube gun market. MacDev designers have made some very interesting innovations that are designed to increase the reliability and efficiency which is always lacking in conventional spool designs. These innovations have led to significant reliability and efficiency advantages, and patents will be granted for them soon.

The Droid features lightweight construction, extensive 3D surface milling and a small, comfortable playing profile.

I bet it will be like that push-button gun...oh what was it called...

The Pikkadoll. Thats it, I bet it's gonna be very similar to the Pikkadoll for some reason...

I'm popping such a huge metaphorical boner right now.

God, I LOVE MacDev markers. I love them as much as I love Palmers markers, and I love PPS.

Looks like the time is right for me to finally invest in some MacDev goodness. Might not be able to afford a Droid, but I see a '06 'Borg in the very near future for me.

It's awesome to see Macdev developing a new line of markers.

It's also great to see that it's not another one of those mid-priced markers.

What joo got against mid priced markers foo?

:ghillie:

Yeah, I doubt Macdev will ever get into that market, besides, it would probably kill all the competition, and become the new Ion. They have a reputation to uphold I guess.

It is a spooler, but from what I am hearing it will have exceptional efficiency.

I do like the switch placement...

So far the one picture on the MacDev news page is just a bloody teaser!

Oh well...I will get to toy with one at World Cup!
