ok you might think this won't happen, might think it cant happen at your field. it could and ill bet it will
and i would like to present you with my strategy

i have worked at the field i work at for about 2 months in that time i have defused 2 potentially volatile situations with this strategy and when i wasn't there (it might have happened even if i was there) there was a fist fight, guy thought the other guy cheated, guy said he didn't cheat, 2 guys got mad and grabbed off his goggles and put his head to the dirt

this or something like this might happen to you, they will shout at each other say the other is cheating and then after the game is over when walking back together they will cuss like sailors and say the others mother is a whore, then once will say something like "drop the gun (female dog) lets go" or "lets take it in the parking lot stupid #@$%@##*&^" that is your Q the moment it changes from you cheater to lets fight its time for this little strategy, stop everyone and make sure they are all paying attention (this will not be difficult as they will likely be watching already) then go to the person who suggests fighting sarcastically say "wow your going to start a fist fight on a paintball field? (over a paintball game?) you must have a big MAN PART "

what your doing is appealing to the sense of logic which at that time will be hidden under layers of ego, testosterone and adrenaline
it makes them realize that they are just bashing there chest to look big. it will bring that logic center back and put the inner gorilla back to sleep

it has worked for me twice of 2 times, think about it, it works

When I play and somone is trying to start a fight I normally assume my general role in life, the deisgnated BRAIN BUTT. If nothing else it gets them mad at me instead. Most of the time it dies after they've been made an idiot. I'm not too worried about fights out at my field though because its mostly birthday parties and people I play with. If somthing does go down too I wont be scared. I've broken up more fights than I can count. Never thrown a punch. Dont think I have since the days of horseing around with my bro. However, there are other ways to subdue people. Most of which arent harmful but give you control over them. People will get worn out trying to fight out of it and not have the energy to fight anway. Of course you want to disfuse it early, but if somthing does go down basic Judo or Grappeling will keep collateral to a minimum. Its not assault either. If worse does come to worse, I always have at least one knife on me. I've only had to use it in that fashion once before but that was at work. Like I said though, I'm not worried.

Hot tempers are one of those things that happen. We've only had two incidents lately where it got near that. Once there was the field owner, myself, and another ref there trying to calm the subject down. Show of force helps alot. One guy getting heated, a three guys in orange vest surrounding him will normally calm things down.

The other, one of the air softers said a speedball player shot his car. We do Airsoft scenarios the same day the speedballer come out, on Sundays. A ball hit an air bunker and flew over the netting and hit the car, it wasnt on purpose, but the guy got PERTURBED. Fortunatly the tourney player in question is one of our refs, and sponsored players. So he kept his cool even though the other guy wanted to fight. Lucky for him that the field owner calmed him down. The tourney guy is not a small guy in the least. As big as I am, I wouldnt want to piss him off. He would have hurt the poor airsofter.

A presence and reasonable voice is the best advice I can give. Extra bodys in orange or stripes helps as well.

only way i stop a fist fight is tell them to leave or ill call the cops. im not gonna stick my head into it to get a free blow to my face. they want to fight take it somewhere eles or they can fight in a jail cell. there choice but im not gonna step in to break it up thats what the cops are for

I'll bet if you shipped out a tazer they'd calm right down :P

Anyway I'm with the 'threaten with the law' strategy. The "I'm going to call the cops if you don't get off my property" routine seems to work like a charm.

have the person that starts it leave the field before it turns into a fist fight but not unless it gets close to a fist fight and starts effecting everyone elses experience.
