I cant sleep for many reasons, but you know Im roaming through stations see football, nhl, soccer, drag racing and drifting. Oh X-Games too. You know I wish some channel, maybe like Versus or some other channel, would pick up paintball. Whether it be rec ball or scenario/woodsball, I think this would be awesome!!!! I used to be into the car racing, drifting scene, but it got old. Now Im into paintball and I dont think I will ever get old of this game!!!!
Whos with me on this?

I believe Tyger discussed something in a vid regarding this - he hoped that it wouldn't really though due to overpopularisation by the X-Games of skateboarding and other 'extreme' sports by like 12 year olds or something.

Sorry if I misrepresent what I remember Tyger! :P

So I've seen yet ANOTHER petition to get paintball into the X-Games, and I figured it's high time to let the new generation in on a secret. ESPN doesn't want paintball in the x-games. And here's why.

I wasnt implying to put this sport into X-Games... I was just implying that it should have its own show or something. They have hunting shows, why not shows about Paintball?

As a person who has spent time on both sides of the camera I can shed a little light on the lack of paintball on T.V.

First off, there is a reason you see for more coverage of speedball events in video form and on tv in the past...it is a smaller playing field witha faster paced action that can be predicted to a minimal degree for camera placement in hopes of catching a great action sequence on the footage.

But it the scenario world you have all facets of the game and other odd things tossed in to bot. There is no way to predict troop movements, or major engaugements. And the truely sneaky guys do not want a camera guy givign away their posistion!
So to overcome these downfalls most folks just suggest more cameras. Or possibly a whole slew of cameras hard mounted around the field to capture action.

Cool. So in a standard weekend long scenario game I as a player typically see 16 or so hours of play time. A good camera guy...will have about the same possibly a bit more depending on his dedication and how invested he is financially in the production.
If you had say four of these super camera guys...you would end up with nearly 80 hours of footage to edit into a serious show.
Cut, splice, mold, form and shape it down to a 22 minute video that is understandable and keeps the viewers attention...through commercials. Very hard to do.
Add in more cameras and you increase the amount of time editing footage.

There is simply not enough money in it.

If you really want to watch paintball...YouTube is your friend! Hellfish.tv Those guys make some screaming vids of scenarioball since the camera guys all play the game and are willing to insert themselves into the fight. Quite possibly the best woodsball vids I have seen come from theme.
And I would think that if anyone was to push the limits and eventually get Recball onto a mainstream tv outlet...Hellfish might be there.

The non paintball viewers simply can not follow nor understand the attraction of the sport

Krazy, I think this sums it up!! I used to be involved with the film and tv industry... And also, had a close friend of mine spend THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS of dollars to get a TV show into production. It never did happen......

As far as the X-Games thing goes, if this; (ESPN The Magazine article scan : http://i213.photobuc...tball/ESPN.jpg) is the answer to why there will NEVER be paintball in the X-Games. THAT IS THE BIGGEST LINE OF BS I've seen this year!!!

The BIGGEST gun wins??? Doubt it!!

Because you have a Mil-Simmed out - DRAGANOV COPY- A5, you will win because you have the BIGGEST gun??? Or maybe they are talking about the fastest gun?? This is CRAP too!! Just cause you have an EGO you're a better paintball player??

Not that I necessarily WANT paintball in the X-Games.... I could care less really.... But the ignorance bothers me!!

I rather not publicize it. For awhile there I think paintball got to popular. You had companies coming out of the woodwork. Cheap unsafe markers where flooding the market. I remember watching ESPN at the weirdest hours and find a paintball tourney here and there. We get enough bad publicity from the uninformed in the government who think that paintball should be tied in with firearms. Yeah it's nice to bring more new blood to the sport but we don't have to over commercialize the sport. I don't want it to end up like other sports that used to be fun but it's all about the moneyz now. B-Dazl your right I could dust off my spyder TL plus and show up some of these kid with Dye NT's or Angels. Proof I just took out some kids with brand new Dye gear with my T8.1 i bought from you guys. They kept running out of paint. Just because you could paint a house with a high rate of fire and string it doesn't make you good or An A5 with a body kit is still and A5 at the end of the day. I think we still have that stigma of "gun" looming over paintball and until we change this, it won't be ready for prime time anytime soon.
If you see my shadow it's already too late.
