Part of the heavy weapons sec for Contact 08, adjustable from 7 psi to 120 psi, @ 80 psi it delivers 175 fps and a range of 150m (520'). Metal hence the wheels comes in at 30kg (66lb).
Any thoughts?

Looks pretty neat.

A thought from picture one though... guess you want to be very sure that the mortar is completly empty before wheeling it around as a 175fps nerf would endanger the future of your line. :wacko:

It needs a mechanism for controling traverse and elevation, this with pressure gauges in a perfect nerf world could be quite accurate.

What is the nature of the release valve?

Elevation is controlled by moving the legs backward and forward, there is a muzzle block when in the travel possition, it has gauges and the top reg is adjustable, 1" ball valve, thanks for your intrest.

How efficient is it? I'm don't doubt a tank would last a game, but do you know how many shots you'd be able to take?

The overall effect is impressive regardless. Very nice, and very spooky.

Haven't put it through all it's paces yet, have run it on CA and CO2 I can tell you after 10 rapid shots with CO2 the reg comes close to freezing, the recharge rate is vurtually instantanious.

update: reduced the firing psi to 50psi, performance decreased slightly 165fps but the reg no longer freezes and a 20oz CO2 bottle can recharge the accumulator 36 times. Pretty bloody happy with both of them! Did a bad thing, placed a wad of news paper and 20 paintballs down it, lowered it and fired at a mate, we now have grapeshot!!!!!!!

Are you going to use this in the same game as that tank you made?

No Mate in S AUS the laws are a bit totalitarian my tanks can't operate on the same field as players, but there isn't any reason they can't operate contiguously separated by a roped boundary.

Cheers

btw 2 tanks

Have you thought about using something to allow you to more accurately adjsut the elevation? Maybe using something with angles for a quick reference.
Nice job!

Nice work. I wish I could make my guns look that pretty. Mine look like broken plumbing work.
Make yourself a demigod of accuracy by putting a protractor on it and using the range equation

Range=(initial velocity)^2 sin (2 angle of launch)/ -9.8

Use a chroni to get velocity and then just put the angle as a variable in a graphin calculator. Ten minute job.

Range=(230 fps)^2 sin (2 * 45 degrees)/ -9.8 (feet/sec^2) = -5398 feet

Besides a negative range I don't think a nerf would go that far. Did I miss something?
