I am thinking about getting one for use as a PISTOL ONLY. Is there any fuctional, accuracy, etc difference between the 8 and the 9? I know the 9 can be set up as a rifle, but I won't use it as such, so please don't state this as a reason to get the T9. Thanks in advance.
You made three mistakes. First, you took the job. Second, you came light. A four man crew for me? Insulting. But the worst mistake of all... empty hoppers.

For pistol use only, the difference is just the rails on the T9, pretty much. So if you want to mount a sight to it, then get the T9. If you don't mind, get the Tac 8. They work and perform the same, anyway.

The only major differences that I know of are that the T-9 has a hopper port, and rails for all the random accessories. You can use HPA or CO2 with a remote line, but I think the T-8 can be used with a remote too. The difference is you can use a hopper on the T-9, so using a remote is acceptable, you don't have to mess around with reloading single mags like you would with a T-8 since it has no hopper port. I belive the accuracy of the two is pretty similar also. So, if you're just gonna use the T-9 as a secondary weapon (pistol), then I personally would go with the whatever is cheaper. I can't find the T-9 available anywhere as just a plain pistol, you have to buy it as some kind of rifle (covert, elite, etc.). Because you have to buy the T-9 that way, the T-8 is cheaper. That's what I got, so now it's up to you. Don't be afraid to research, a lot. PM me with question and I'll see if I can answer them.

If your just going to use it as a pistol i would say go with the tac 8. The main reason i say this is there is no holster that i can find to fit the t9 in pistol form. Where the tac 8 has custom fit holsters that fit it like a glove.

For a pistol go Tac 8.

With the T9 there is an adaptor plate to cover up the hopper feed when in pistol mode.

Not true.

I got this one:

I love it. I adapted it to be a waist holster, by getting a heavy duty belt at the Army Surplus store. Also, as it turns out, made by Condor. (Opsgear sells it for $25,-. I got mine for $15,-)AndI just use the one bottom starp, that straps to my leg
It's rocksolid. If you're using a hopper, you'll have to cut a tiny corner off.

You can see it in this pic:
