Am I in the dark about this marker? I've heard they stopped making them, but was there something wrong with them other than Crosman's commitment to paintball markers? An E trig marker for $240 is good, then add all the extras you get with it and it seems like a great deal... yet theres no buzz about them what-so-ever. Am I missing something? I love the thing myself, and yeah, thats all that matters but I'm still curious as to why it has gotten such a quiet reception from the paintball community. Please fill me in. Thanks in advance.

Lack of advertising? Lack of avalability? I have never heard of this marker until now 250 is stilla good price for an electro but what do you mean by "extras"?

I guess extras may be a bad term. The Recon E5 comes as an M4 look alike so by extras I just meant that it already has the barrel shroud, stock, raised sight rail, Z mount(weaver), as opposed to getting a 98 or A5 and having to purchase all these items seperately. And yes I am a Tippmann buyer, I just didnt want to mess with my 98c. I wanted to keep it simple, and the Recon E5 made it easy for me to have a milsim, w/o having to do all the individual piece upgrading.

it was just that crosman didnt really invest in it, and didnt advertise, or get it out into the mainstream, so basically, crosman killed itself in the paintball department, Steve@gameface was basically the only guy in the paintball dept, and he got laid off, i might have to email crosman;s engineering dept for their permission to reverse engineer and use XTS/JTX internals in a custom marker series so i could make diff kind of scenario set ups, but we will have to wait and see though.

So, since I have one, how much trouble am I in if I ever need replacement parts? I know its spyder compatible, but still!

not much. the very fact its spyder compatible means that pretty much any and all spyder parts SHOULD work on it

I own one too..... I feel your pain and extreme curiosity. I do know that the Spyder Rocking Trigger 2.0 works nicely on this gun. And I'm sure you probably know by now, but Real Action Paintball sells a bunch of spyder mods that work on this gun.

It's a low-end electronic marker with a M4-style body and all spyder internals. So upgrading or replacing a bolt, grip, etc. shouldn't be that tough. The barrel is also a spyder thread so any spyder barrel will work. As far as where to buy one, I think rockstartactical.com still sells them for around 260-270 new.

Here's a crappy quality picture of mine with some of the tactical mods on it..........

Number of downloads: 1i remember when i first got my recon e5 i bought it with the insurance money after my house was broken into and my a5 was stolen lol. any way i bought it with all the fixings bipod, red dot sight, mock suppressor, everything gameface had to offer and i was super stoked. however the first time i used it not only did it break balls like it was going out of style but the e grip was soo messed up i actually beleived i would be more dangerous throwing the balls my self. after i got home i imediately trashed the egrip and swaped in an old plain jane grip i had from a spyder laying around and purchased an electric halo hopper. besides the weight (upwards of like 9 pounds) it shoots like clockwork and after a little custom spray paint in my garage isn't a half bad sniper set up. all though i do now have a tricked out a5 my trusty recon is always there to back me up. as far as them being discountinued i think that is actually a reality but as long as you've got plenty of half broken spyders laying around your good to go :(
