It sounds cool, but I highly doubt it would work. And it would cost WAY to much money for fuel and a pilot. Nice video game concept, bad for real life.

No. It's too expensive and impractical. Don't even try to argue that it isn't.

As far as using r/c equipment in paintball, it is illegal to fly a remotely piloted plan out of your line of sight over the U.S. You can actually get in alot of trouble for this, as your aircraft becomes a hazard to navigation of full scale aircraft. As far as recon, you can get pretty good equipment for around $100 that will send fairly good quality video. It's still only gonna see people in a field. Not good for recon. You would also have to factor in about 200 for the airframe, 100-500 for the engine, minimum of 200 for a radio, then the tv, vcr and generator. Wow, it just got pricey.
When you call me that, smile.

very expensive
may be dangerous to those inside of the chopper
i think tanks are a better solution to the need of an armored vehicle on the field.

People aren't even supposed to shoot the helicopter, its against the law. I f they did, they would get kicked out of the game, and arrested. :ninja:

If this ever happened, it would be awesome.

I wouldn't mind flying in one to be inserted at a point, but some people may get air sick...Puking in a helicopter with a lot of people in it, others might get sick, and they might puke cause he puked, and it'll turn into a huge mess....

Awesome in theory, but totally improbable.

ahahahaha, reminds me of that left 4 dead collab on newsground...

...anywho, YES choppers would be cool, NO choppers aren't practical, NO choppers aren't cheap and YES if there was a game involving a chopper I would be the first to shout "Get to da choppa!" even if it made no sense...

If (when) I become a millionare Yes I will probably get a chopper for a day paintballing at MY scenario site =P

BUT

the gunner idea though...

...I know nothing of mechanics and physics but I'm willing to bet the chopper pushes air down to go/stay up, so whats it going to do to a string of paintballs coming from say a heli-wopters double troubles?

What really surprizes me with this is that is has been done. Many times.

Locally for years there was an anual Black Hawk Down game. They had a chopper...it shot people.

At the Spec Ops Elite Weekend in 07...there was a helicopter...the team that won the points compitition on Saturday was given the chance to do an air insertion and shoot opfors. There was a 200 lb limit for the riders. I was asked if I wanted to take the place of one of the players too heavy to fly. Of course I said yes!

I hung from an eight point harness stood on the skids and shot people while we flew around the field.

It had to be one of the most amazing things I have done in this sport! There are very few of us with the Spec Ops Air Assualt player position patch...I cherish the one I have on my kilt!
