The 98 Custom Pro stock barrel is actually pretty nice compared to the stock barrels on all of my friends' guns (regular 98's, a BE Marauder... and a few rented MR2's)

I started out playing this year with a Spyder Imagine Refurb from skanline.
2 weeks ago I won an A5 on ebay, used.
Today I playe dmy first game with it, and what a difference.
Even though it has the E-trigger, I didn't use the auto function at all, and played one of my best ganes to date.
In fact, I'm probably going to just us ethe standard stock trigger.

I had an Apex barrel and a J&J Edge barrel kit for the spyder.
I cut down one of the J&J fronts and attached the Apex tip to it.

Man, what a huge difference in accuracy.
Flatline distance with matched bore accuracy. Even in the extreme settings.

So, I would definitely say, go with an A5.
Lots of mods and upgrades available as well.

Ya but thats the same with most of the tippmann line. Though I do like the idea of combining barrel to get the best of both worlds, good idea. How does your J Apex work? And maybe a little more detail so I can work on this beast.

id go with the A5 cuse its got a cyclone feed system wich mean u dont have to buy an electronic hopper and u can add or put on a RT trigger or an E-grip wich will increase ur fire rate A5 has many other things over the spyder rodeo or u might also consider if u cant afford the A5 then go with either benn tippmann or a 98c

Ya but the custom pro ( about $ 180) has a double trigger, and you can upgrade to the cyclone later. Nice deal here http://www.tippmannpros.com/All-Tippmann-9...ll-Guns-C3.aspx

I bought the J&J Edge barrelkit for my spyder.
I'm pretty sure you can get it threaded fro an A5. If not, get a Lapco A5-Spyder adapter, like I did.
Then, at the Undergorundmodshop.com, get the Apex adapter ring.
Get an Apex barrel. Inscrew the 4 screws and remove it.
To keep the barrel short, I cut down the longest barrel that was included with the barrel kit, which was 14", to 2 inches.
The Apex barrel attaches to the fornt using one inch.

That's it.
Also, I got the UMS RIS MKII front grip set-up.
I also installed a Folding stock. Get the JCS one, it comes with a built-in RVA.
I also got a madman springset, and instaled the red one.
I have the UMS Short striker rail on order, and am adding a reddot sight, and will be bringing my ASA adapter up to the rear, attached to the top of the gun.

I took the gun to the field for the first time yesterday. And with the FVA screwed completely out, the Gun chronoed perfectly around 270-280.

I had zero problems.

This was a used gun, theat, when I receieved it, looke dlike it hadn't been proberly cleaned or used in quite some time.
Completely disassembling the gun and putting it back together is a cakewalk.
It only took me an afternoon to remove the old paintjob. Repaint it matte black, and put it back together.

Do you think this feat could be done with a Tippmann 98 Custom Pro? I think I could get a ezer time by having a JJ kit with the threading to the gun type the same. I personally like the Custom Pro because it comes with a double trigger and a longer barrel, the a-5 is a pain to buy imo because of its cost.

I'm sure you could do the same witha 98 pro.
For me, the huge advantage of the A5 is the included cyclone feed hopper.
I personnally don't want a longer barrel. And You can get a double trigger for the A5 as well.

As far as Price. I have seen them used starting from $120.
I bought mine used on Ebay for $250,-
It came with a flatline, E-grip, Car stock, drop forward and a mag.
I sold the mag, and am selling the stock and drop foreward as well.
So, at the end of the day I will have an A5 with an E-grip and original flatline for about $180.-

I am a woods ball player, maybe later I might get into speedball and I am looking for a marker. I have considered only mechnical markers and for less then 250. And I have narrowed it down to two markers, a Spyder Rodeo, to the A-5. The Rodeo and the A-5 on PBR have both the same rating, A-5s a little more expensive, Rodeo is a little less durabil. I hear the Rodeo stocks good and A-5 is decent. I want opinions, not flamer notes

i have 2 a-5's for sale i would sell you one with an e-grip, tasco red dot sight, mask, gloves, neck protector, barrel plug, barrel swab, allen wrenches, 20oz tank. for $300......the gun also has a double trigger.

Why get the 98c Pro & then buy the cyclone for an extra $60? By that time your already at the price of the A-5.

Ya, but the double triggers, e grips, for a A-5 bring it up to 300. Its a switch, hopper, or fast shooter. Really, the 98 is cheaper if you get the previously stated upgrades and compare for both guns.
