Thanks to Congress we now have to pretty much use Haze-Mat suits to clean up a broken bulb.

What annoys me most about that video is that he said the lightbulb was Thomas Edison's invention lol... he was not the first inventor of the lightbulb dammit.

Although I agree that lightbulb shouldn't be used. If what he's saying he's true, we should wait for an alternative energy-saving lightbulb before using one so inconvenient.

I was honestly hoping for him to take the light bulb and throw it on the floor and say "OK everyone out, seems wee've broken a light bulb"

That was great. So true. Why should the government tell me what kind of lightbulb i can use?? I can't stand all the dumb laws that have to tell me how to live; land of the free, not so much. Everything in my life must be dictated to me by the government for fear i could kill myself or the planet. I miss the olden days, before we "needed" to have stuff like this.

And i agree. LED is the way to go. Uses very little energy and can be super bright.

Guys, it's congress. While the common man may know the difference between LED and lead, congress won't accept them because of all the problems with lead paint.

I didnt watch the vid, no sound atm, but I'm assuming its about the mercury in energy saving lightbulbs and the fact some manufacturers are starting to only produce them, while theres a bill being passed that says theyre the only ones that can be used...

my science teacher gave everyone one of those energy saver lightbulbs at the end of the year (i know, Dirty Acronym right?), and i refused to take it. she got all mad and asked why, so i got to lecture the whole class on how theyre actually worse for the environment, etc etc
on top of that:
1) they dont last as long as everyone says they do, just try one...
2) they cost more
3) theyre SO UGLY!
4) the only kind that works on a dimmer switch is nearly twice the cost of a normal energy saver lb.
5) im gonna laugh in 10 years when we have a mercury crisis in our water supply because no one takes the proper precautions to dispose them.
6) i honestly dont care about the environment enough to deal with the harsh, ugly light they give off
7) since when does congress get to tell me what i can and cannot make or buy when the original thing wasnt hurting anyone??? i mean, sure they use energy... now what, only hybrid cars? only those stupid reusable grocery bags which you gotta buy and bring yourself??

edit: just watched, LOL place in glass jar with metal lid, since thats readily available

What I find scarry is that people want to elect more socialists to high gov't office so that we can have more regulation about what we buy and where it comes from. Whatever happened to free market economy? In a truely free market companies would have come up with a better light bulb than compact floresent (i.e. - LED). I used to work at a large home improvement store and when someone broke a floresent bulb no one went through all of those procedures for cleanup, I wonder how polluted the enviroment and water supply is at our local landfills from these things.

What I think is ironic is that more and more flashlight are coming out with LED bulbs in them since they are brighter, more energy efficient, put out very little heat, light instantly (unlike floresent lights), and last almost forever. Now that's a lightbulb I want for my house.
