They're already failing, seems worse than Hollywood sometimes, with the whole regurgitated storyline thing.

One article here.

And to me, it's not about the shows, some of them are actually good, none that I can live without, it's the commercials. Let's end invasive commercialism, too bad it's started invading our gaming too, dang you EA, dang you to heck. So shall we turn our televisions into nothing more than receptacles for the A/V jacks of our consoles and DVD players. I shout a loud and resounding YES.

There's just nothing worth watching anymore.

Leave it on History, A&E, or Discovery and you'll be just fine.

That's what I normally do. I'd like it to go back to the pre-reality show era when the actual program held more than 60% of air time and the TV guide(preview) Channel was the entire screen not just one bar that took 10 min to scroll through the list.

I hadn't watched a show in the longest time until Jericho which was recently canceled. I guess I should learn to enjoy karaoke contests like American Idol or the other countless talent shows out there. If my wife didn't watch TV I'd just cancel my satellite package and keep my T.V for my Xbox.

It's just more of the dumbing down of America, and we are getting dumber by the day. But in all realty the same could be said for pb. We do tend to go overboard for this game.

Meh. I only watch the History channel, Comedy Central, Discovery Channel, and whatever movies are on TNT usually. Oh, Law and Order is good too. Other than that, its always 5 minutes of TV show and 10 minutes of commercials.

Heck Yeah!

There are only a few things worth watcing on TV anymore.

Mine are, in no particular order:

Shootout
Tales of the gun
Cops
Dirty Jobs
Deadliest Catch
MythBusters
Mail Call
Premium Blend
Scrubs
House
Ripleys Believe it or not (The old one)
The movie channels, but only if there's something good on.
A couple others that I can't remember off the top of my head.

A few things that producers need to realize are NOT good TV, again, in no particular order.

-Any show where a spoiled whiny teenager plans their 16th birthday party. Or for that matter, any reality show. Reality TV was a fad, it's gone now. GET OVER IT!!

-Any show involving home romodeling (usually preformed by the fruitiest of people), or redecorating that is NOT called "This Old House".

-Any show where they alter a persons wardrobe or give them a makeover and make a huge deal out of it.

-American Idol. Ok, I get it, they can sing, woopidy doo! Why do more people vote for this than for the presidential elections?
Maybe the next presidential hopefull should put on a pop concert? While we in the neighborhood. Ryan Seacrest, you suck, please die in a fire. Also, pop sucks. But that's a rant for a different time.

-Any American Idol esq. show. IE: Americas top model, dancer, inventor (those guys were idiots), toilet bowl scrubber, ect.

-That food channel show with the fat bald guy that eats bugs and crap like that....no.

-American Chopper, interesting when it first started. Now it's just become annoying.

-Pimp my Ride, Truck, Trailer, House, Daughter...whatever. They can't even be called custom cars. Bolting on a bunch of crap to a POS car, putting TVs in it (oooooh TVs!), and giving it new rims and paint is NOT CUOSTOM!!!!! Custom is freehand. Custom is original. Custom is fabrication from scratch. Custom is art. Custom is NOT picking crap out of a catalog and slapping it on an otherwise mediocre car.

So anyway....yeah, I may have got a bit carried away there, but you get the idea.

QFT on the rant
Although some things mentioned in the rant are sort of worth watching.

I like History Channel, Comedy Central, Sci Fi, and Discovery Channel.

Really the only show I watch that isn't on the above channels is 24. That's the only show that I'll actually take the time to record and watch other than its notmal airtime. (about 20 min of commercials per hour)

Cops
Law and Order
South Park
Virtually anything on the History Channel or the Military Channel
Occasionally the Discovery Channel
Occasionally Court TV and TNT.

My TV never sees any other channels. There are the rare occasions that I turn it to CNN only to see a bunch of hippies screaming back and forth about how bad of a person Bush is. So I turn it to Fox News and all I see is van Sustren crying about Anna Nicole's baby... so I just give up and go back to the History Channel again.

None of that matters, they canceled the best show of all time, Invader Zim.

I like the Discovery Channel though. That or Comedy Central. Just ignore the commercials.

TV is so horrible because they cancel almost all the good shows....

Firefly comes to mind as a fairly recent example. Some would debate on it, but Jericho was a lot better than most television. Good but not great, and now it's cancelled because it's not the crap reality junk.

"reality tv" isn't.... and it's really annoying and unintelligent. I can't figure out how anyone can watch it without becoming ill.

Also, I prefer news, not Communist News Network propoganda or "news" about "Hollywood stars" and other people that really wouldn't be worth anything if people just stopped paying attention to them. Sadly, it seems like there's no real news on television anymore, so I try to go around credible websites and filter through them to get an idea of what actually is happening (or at least closer to it than if I used the TV for news)
