Operation: Black Sun

July 9, 2011 - DFW Adventure park, Roanoke, TX

$35 pre-reg / $40 day of the game

Location:
DFW Adventure Park
13055 Cleveland Gibbs Rd.
Roanoke, TX 76262

“Angola July 9th 1979... Angola is in the middle of civil war. The UN move to keep the rebel forces from getting a WMD from underground arms dealers. An elite group of specialist assembled from 25 nations, move in and attack the Cuban backed Angolan army for control of the “Black Sun”. It was all supposed to be a one hour operation until the reality of the plan came to light. Now, the elite international force had bitten off more than they can chew and the locals may change the world as we know it.”

This scenario event is NOT your normal “big game”. The shooting starts at 17:00hrs and will run until at least 01:00hrs (game could end as late as 03:00hrs). The game is played in scenes that last anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour each with 15 minute brakes between each scene. The scenes are set up on a pyramid chart that starts on the top and flows down from there. Each scene will effect what scene in pulled out and issued into the game. The game will not be ‘scored’ in a traditional manner. The game is scored with “decisive victory/loss”, “major victory/loss”, “minor victory/loss” or “draw”. So, the winner is decided based on the simple facts of did you compete your mission or not.

The first half of the battle will be during day light. The first contact will be on over 100 acres with no set boundary or known/set approach. As the second scene opens it will become shorter play zones and more concentrated fights.

The second half of the game will be after dark. At night, all lights are legal and night vision equipment is in full use. Each scene will be run with a “sudden death” goal that will not leave any room for loose calls. There will also be pyros and other special effects on the field for this event.

This event will be run more like an actual military training operation than a paintball scenario event.

The game will be capped at 80 players. (including NPC’s, special guests and commanders the event will still be less than 100 total on the field)

This is a high intensity hot weather event. So, we suggest only physically fit, gung-ho and hard core players attend. Every year we have between 5-8 players drop out of the game due to exhaustion or heat. Bring lots of water and eat a good meal before you come.

Some of the game features in the plans are a fully functional armored patrol boat, trip flares, pyrotechnics and much more…

Schedule:
13:00hrs - The event check in opens
16:00hrs – safety briefing and equipment check
16:30hrs – Rebel roll out and set up
16:35hrs - UN commanders briefing
16:45hrs (approximately) – UN roll out to the area of operations
17:00hrs – starting cannon signals operations area is hot
21:00hrs to 22:00 – game break
22:00hrs – night safety briefing
22:15hrs – roll out to start night operations
01:00hrs to 02:30 – End of operations and final meeting at the front gate for victory announcements and awards.

This is a field paint only event. KEE Action Sports will be providing the paintballs for the event. Price on the paintballs will be announced only a few weeks prior to the event due to our wanting to get the best price available for you.

Camping is available on site. We have two locations for ground fires and an after party is being discussed. More details on the after party will be announced as we make those plans.

****UPDATE INFO******

We will be starting check in at 14:00hrs at HQ1 in the rec-room.

We have t-shirts for anyone who pre-regs before Thursday night.

Ref safety speech starts at 16:30hrs.

Rebels will role out directly after the safety speech.

UN role out is at 16:50hrs to the UN LZ with a game start at 17:00hrs. The UN LZ will be at the pond field netted mask off station.

Each game scene will last from 15 min to 60 min each. At the end of each scene a clear winner will be decided and the outcome will determine what the next scene will be. Each scene will be worth one victory point. The final ownership of game objective props will also be worth game points.

All non-laser lights are legal. We encourage all players to bring a flashlight and plan on using stronger lights do defensive position use.

Tarrant and Denton counties are under a burn ban and we may have a county fire work ban. We will make the call the day of the event for pyros and fireworks pending county approval. If you bring anything of that nature it will need to pass head ref approval. We are also happy to take donations of fireworks for background flash during the event.

This event is limited to 80 players for safety reasons. If we sell out the slots prior to the event we will post that info here...

Angolan Rebels - Chad 'Touareg' Arnouville from Team Redrum.
