A paintball bottle has exploded at the fill station during a 5 man tournament here in England.

Information is not yet detailed but it is reputed to be a Stacko bottle and is aledged so far to be either pne of the following or a combination:

filling too fast - Stacko bottles have a recommended maximum fill rate

overfilling to 5000psi

regulator failure

oil at the fill nipple causing a flash explosion - but this is the basis of a previous incident and reputedly the player has the knowledge not to use oil on the fill nipple, (it has also been suggested that the prior tank filled may have had oil)
(This may be the automatic reaction as Stackos were withdrawn for a period pending tests following the Madrid explosion - see further below)

The player is understood to have hand injuries, and was caught alight during the explosion, but is as fine as can be expected.

A little update:

See Spreadz07's posts - It was Spreadz (Nige) that was the victim of this incident, and he is OK./url]

Check out Andy YPCs posts - (Site manager)

[url="http://www.talkpaintball.com/showthread.php?t=16883"]Joint Statement from the Paintball Association League and the UK Masters.

Note the further comments that put it into perspective - A lot of weight has bene put on liability insurance, whereas some of the risk should be assessed in a site risk assessment & control measures to try to prevent it happening at all.

Another little update:

I had a chat with one of the marshalls at a woodland site (Camouflage Bournemouth) this weekend who is a mate of Nige.

He is getting on fine and a lot of the discussions are based on opinions only. His original rebuttal to the initial rumours came from his hospital bed!

.. and a couple of updates, but this is still subject to investigation.
