Stumbled across this section in Death Valley Magazine, and felt some of you here would appreciate the articles as much as I have.

Articles include analysis of the behaviors of the manliest men ever to walk the Earth. Men such as Clint Eastwood, Steve McQueen, Lee Marvin, Charles Bronson, Sean Connery, Sly Stallone.

For your viewing pleasure, I present DVM's "Old School Man" section. Sure, most of this stuff would make most "men" faint these days, but I think you guys (and Gals) will see the wisdom here.

http://www.deathvall...old-school-man/

Important lessons include how:

Smoking is cool
Drinking is cool. Real drinking, not some screwball fruity drink either.
Motorcycles are cool
Red Meat is cool.
Fighting is cool.
American Muscle Cars are cool.
Cursing is cool.
And other important life lessons.

Why? I'm 24 and I remember most of these guys. Granted my pops had ALL of them recorded on VHS.

Smoking is cool

Smoking is NOT cool when it's one of those half-assed cigars known as cigarettes. Those tiny, nasty smelling, bad tasting cancer sticks are for wee wussies and junkies looking for a quick fix. Saying that, you want to be a man? Cigars. Or pipes for the more sophisticated and classy. Either or will do.

Drinking is cool. Real drinking, not some screwball fruity drink either.

Or that stuff made for kids known as beer. Don't believe me? What's the drink that gets people into alcohol? Beer. That nasty, low grade, terrible smelling, even worse tasting plant piss knock off. Have a REAL drink. Drink whiskey or vodka. You pansy.

Quote

Motorcycles are cool

Only if they're not crotch rockets.

Quote

Red Meat is cool.

Actually it's best when hot, but agreed.

Quote

Fighting is cool.

Agreed. Now who wants to throw down in a public place to show people that THIS is entertainment and the appropriate way to settle an argument, then have a good cigar and a drink afterwards?

Quote

American Muscle Cars are cool.

I prefer a Rolls Royce, but alright. Agreed.

Quote

Cursing is cool.

Only when used properly, otherwise you just sound stupid. Like saying like all the like time like. It loses it's zing after a while.

That article was really annoying, I think I've outgrown this forum.

Old school men are individuals, not a set of rules. They thought for themselves and took care of their families and friends and weren't worried about conforming.

If you want to be an "old school man" break from the pack and be yourself regardless of what anyone thinks.

Another good "Old School" man movie in my opinion is Black Snake Moan. Just a guy that works hard and overall has good values but gets screwed by his wife and his brother. I think its a good movie, but then again i like blues music too. lol

Seems some people think that is a single article, instead of a collection thereof. So, a handy set of links to the individual articles. In order no less.

Sounds like something a man who is not old school would say. Both my Grandfathers went by these rules. Except you know what? No one said "Hey, here are some rules, you should follow them." No, they just did that because that's what old school men do.

Old school men would never wear skinny jeans. Nor would old school men wear baggy jeans with half their ass hanging out.
Old school men wear pants that fit them. Because that's why there are different sizes, so you can pick the one that fits your right.

I concur.

If you're looking for real men, look at Rich Mullins and Samuel Dillard.
