I'm not really that good, but sure. After all, you need someone to be the low seed haha.

How would this work? Like chess by mail? Or would it be through something like Yahoo games and we play each other online?

I'm bad at chess when I'm not there in person to stealthily pluck your important pieces from the board when you aren't looking :dodgy:

We could do it via a live online server like FICS or Yahoo. Somebody would have to act as a Tournament Director to set the pairings and then we would have some time to meet up on the server and play our games then repeat this process for each round. A week per round is usual for this type of tourney. Another option would be for all of us to meet on the same server at the same time and play a private tourney. This would be the easiest and quickest. And yet another option would be to use one of the free correspondence servers like Gameknot or Chess.com to play a slow e-mail type tournament. I think this would probably be easiest to organize but it's a different type of game than live chess and takes awhile to play, depending on the time control it can easily take from three months to over a year to complete a tournament.

Edit: Oh yeah...there is the old snail mail type tournaments. The typical cycle lasts two years with a 10 move per 30 day time control..Of course not counting transmission time.

i used to play over the phone. lol. both i and my opponent had the tourney clock, (30 minute game), gridded chessboard, and phone. if you both set up your pieces correctly, you can hear your opponents coordinates, do his move, and he does the same on his board. and vica versa. that way you have a 3-d game with a real board and pieces. besides, no one can cheat. lol.

i'll let you guys figure out the system for it, but i'm down for some online chess.

Cool...Let's keep em coming...

Yahoo / Would be easy as there is no software to download but you may have to register.
FICS / Would have software to download but has a better interface and you can log on as a guest.
