Also Dr. Pepper and Bourbon is good. Especially cheap bourbon. I mean, you're mixing it, you don't need Makers for that.
I was actually one of the heads in the class as far as palettes go for wine tasting (only behind two of the instructor's long time wine tasting buddies who were just taking the class for the hell of it). Made it all the more satisfying when I pretty much flat out rejected her entire philosophy that French wines are the only wines worth studying in depth. Only French wines I particularly care for are the Alsatian wines, like Gewurztraminers and Rieslings.
