The Canadians had a blast....met alot of great people. We would like to thank a few people...billy and lcp for hosting the finals, the teams that travelled to make this event what it was, all the vendors and sponsers.

Spec ops, Tippmann, Q loader, Recon, APE, Stiffi and the list goes on. Every player should be sending an email to all the sponsers thanking them for all the support and prizing. Show them we appreciate the support.

I, on behalf of my team, would like to thank our sponsers for all their suppport. Spec ops, Adrenaline Paintball and Mokal have been great sponsers and supporter over the last year......THANKS SO MUCH.

p.s. it's amazing the people you meet when they find out you have canadian beer........Eh

I would like to thank everyone that attended. I hope you all had a great time. We really tired to put on the best SPPL event ever. As some of you noted there will always be things that need to be fixed or improved upon and we will work to correct those. Although I would like to keep this upbeat I would like to mention that no calls where ever over turned. There were times where calls were made differently from field to field and for that some work still needs to be done to ensure that doesn't happen in the future.

no calls over turned huh?? well, im going to have to call shenanigans on that. maybe this particular call wasn't over turned by you but defiantly by some one relatively high up in your staff, atleast higher then Curtis. the reason i say that is cuz, while chronoing my gun before a game, i happen to be standing next to a GTF game. who they where playing, i do not know. anyways. while i was there. a player named Skip told Curtis " i aint no boy" while taking off his gear, as if he were challenging him to fight. Curtis told Skip's team mate that he could no longer play in the event. at that point Skip then told Curtis "F**k you fat boy. i'll kick your F**king butt" then flinched at hit like he was going to hit him. at this time Curtis then told him that he would have to leave the LCP facility and that GTF would have to play a man down for the remainder of the entire tournament.. not the match, but the tournament.. Skip was dragged off the field by his team mate the, in while doing so he was yelling curse words and threatening Curtis and other refs. i also challenge anyone who doubts my story to ask any member of XF. cuz half there team whitenessed all this too, as they were staging to play that field next.
i could not believe what i was seeing. ive been to lots of events, and i had never seen anyone take such a position against a ref. i thought surely. this cat was outta here, but much to my dismay. i seen Skip getting air, and gearing up for the finals games, and when i watched GTF play XF in the battle for 2nd place. iill be d*mn*d if GTF didnt have 10 players on this field, and ill even do you one better.. Skip was one of them. at that moment, i was ashamed to be part of this league. i had posed the question to myself. "why in the h*ll do any of us work so on sportsmanship, and staying calm, and playing stand up, fair paintball. only to have another player, whos team consequently won second place, act this way with NO repercussions. what happened to ill side with my refs., or my refs word will always stand. mind you, we arent talking about a 1st year ref either. this is Curtis. your best ref in my opinion. and who cares what call was made on the field. who cares what penalties he might have took during the game. when we was escorted off the field, and then threatening a head ref with physical violence. that my friends is a whole new set of downs. forget what happened on the field. that by itself is enough to have any player in this league banned from the SPPL for ever. so why did that not happen? why was skip allowed to play? who over turned Curtis's decision to kick him out and them play a man down?
i hate to call a guy out, but it did happen, and at some point everyone has to take accountability for their own actions, and if not the player. surely their capt. must. if i was the GTF capt., considering all that had occurred, i would be to guilt stricken to even continuing to play, let alone have won second place. i would have expect some one to come up to me and say "sir. you took second place from teams who were way more deserving, teams who had not incurred a single penalty. instead you won with player/ s who have a p*ss poor attitude. this entire league is supposed to be based on sportsmanship and fair play, and you sir. by allowing a player of that caliber to continue on your team leaves you with neither"
Jason.. these are your rules. set in place and enforced by your people. if they are to stand in the rule books, then they must apply to all of us, and in this situation it was very clear to me that the rules did not apply to GTF and defiantly not to Skip.

This is the captain of the Forest Demons (blue/masters). The game Skip was thrown out was the 1st one we played against us. I was told by Curtis that the player had been kicked out as well, and they were to play with 9 players. Going into the finals, I asked about the "9 players" and was told they brought a player up from the rookie team to fill in for Skip. I dont know if Skip played or not, but the difference in attitudes from the 1st game to the 2nd was night and day. The 1st game seemed harsh and uptight...tensions were high. We did have a player go out of bounds and he had no problem admitting it and taking the 10 point penalty for it...we play straight up, 1st class paintball.

I must say the 2nd game (finals) was intense and great. GTF players were faster than us and had us on our heals to start. The attitudes were much better, and it was a pleasure to talk to all the players after the game. I dont know if Skip was there or not, but again, GTF showed much class and sportsmanship after the finals. Talking to Curtis, Skip was WAY out of line, and as a Captain, there is no way I would allow someone with that mouth or attitude on our team. The SPPL is a great tourney and format and class/sportsmanship comes 1st. No players attitude should be acepted because of his skills.

Curtis was/is and incredible ref, and his expertise was very appreciated. I hope his call did not get overturned, because the player assalted him and our sport. Thank you Curtis for being there and for the staight up calls. Thank you GTF for the tough, hard fought battles of both games and the class you showed after the finals. Look forward to fighting again next year!

"Jason.. these are your rules" from hatchet man.

there are a lot of great things to talk about form the week end, and there a a few things that we need to look at, and some we nee to fix.

The Rules are not Jason's rules, and they are not Greg's or Bob's or Tom's rules.
They are the league rules that have been put together from the experiances and results of 4 plus seasons of SPPL.
They are pretty good, and going to get better.

Jason is busy right now looking after some very very important family business....... I was in contact with him today. I don't think he'll be sleeping much for the next couple days. lol

Lets spend our time telling some cool war stories and when he/we are ready we will certainly adress any problems...

So whats with the canadian sheep at world finals?????????????

ok, if you wanna split hairs thats fine.
that still doesnt answer the question on why Curtis's call on the field was not enforced on a player who clearly broke the "leagues" rules.

Waldo,

We used FTF's during the game, Black Eagle Squadron's was kept for back-up. When I practiced with both the launchers prior to the game... FTF's seemed to be noticeably more accurate, so that's the one I chose to use. Thanks to both teams for offering them up, it was much appreciated and showed the class of both teams.

Whew ....

First of all, please let us know who you are, and what team you play for
.... after all, it's only polite

Second, you are absolutely correct and that's pretty much how the situation
went down ...in pretty amazing detail on your part.

However, there are a few details everyone should know about that situation;

A) I was aware of it, since my entire team was sitting at the deadbox when it happened.

B ) Jayson was not the individual who overturned the Section 17.3 Violation, Dan from Ape was.

C) Jayson was unaware of the situation, and that GTF was playing with the individual on the roster until Curtis pointed it out to him & at that time, the game was already in progress.

Yes, it was a violation of the rules, and by the letter of the law, GTF should have played us down a man on their roster. I was not present when the call got overturned & don't know the conversation between the player and Dan. Just FYI, Dan used to play for Xtreme Fanatics for several years, was on a previous SPPL squad and left this year to help Jayson with SPPL. I trust/respect his judment as a player & as a SPPL Official.... so I'm not going pass judgement on his decision in the matter without knowing all the details.

Whether it was the SPPL staff having a big heart & realizing that players make mistakes, Skip giving a damn good appology, or a combination of the two, it happened & it's over.

However; what everyone needs to know is that I was aware that the call was reversed and elected not to protest the overturn of the call/left it alone.
In hindsight, it may have been stupid and I probably cost my team a better finish & better prize package, but it was my decision as SPPL Team Captain, and I take full responsibility for my actions to my team and to the SPPL participants; so, I'll offer the SPPL community the same appology I offered my team mates.
I appologize for not protesting the reverseal, and kicking & screaming until Jayson made the call stand. However, We didn't want a win that people would come back & say "XF beat GTF because they had nine players", so I elected to not say anything when they showed up with 10 players. We'll practice some more, learn from our mistakes & be back to get our chance to beat GTF another day. We know GTF's coach/captain, have played them multiple times and 1 persons lack of judgement in one match is not a reflection of the entire team. I'm confident their team captain will address it, and Curtis and Skip will have to determine how best to redress what happened on the field.

Xtreme Fanatics came to the World Championships to represent sportsmanship in paintball, play a perfect series with no penalties, represent actual Scenario Paintball Teams in this format, make new friends and to hopefully give everyone one more laugh than if we hadn't showed up .... whether you were laughing with us or at us (hopefully it was at the sock puppets & not us). I'd like to think we accomplished our goals this weekend .... so getting on the award stage was gravy.

Win or lose, we played every team clean, and walked away with a 3rd place finish in the Masters Division, I am extremely proud & satisfied with the third place win, because it is 100% ours ... and it's absolute..... Nobody can ever contest/dispute that we took it fair & square.

I appoloze if I "let some people down" by not contesting the call, but as they say ..... that's just the way we roll. Trophy's and first place finishes don't define a team. We came to play, not to interpret or enforce the rules...... that's the SPPL staff's job.

I'm not saying you shouldn't pursue the issue & SPPL shouldn't look into what happened, but it's one really bad thing that happened in a weekend full of good things. I'm sure Jayson will address it once he gets a break from his new fatherhood & you'll get the answers your looking for.

If anything, I'm as much to blame for how things turned out as the SPPL staff, so please accept my personal appology for my part in the matter.

Finally getting a chance to get on the computer to say a few things:

1. A BIG thank you to Jayson for keeping this league around and making it better every year. We look forward to every SPPL event we attend.

2. LCP, great hospitality and awesome fields.......wish we were a little closer to you so we could attend some scenarios there.

3. A HUGE thanks to the ref's..........by far the best we've seen yet. PaleRider, Krazy, ThirdI and your staff did a great job and we appreciate you efforts very much.

4. The sponsors of SPPL......can't thank you enough.

5. To all the teams that attended the finals or any qualifier......thanks for representing a league that puts emphasis on playing with honor and sportsmanship. Let's all try to get more teams to try this league and help expand it.

This past weekend is going to be one I will never forget. My team (Suicide Kings) had a great time and it was a pleasure to meet some new teams, you Canadians rock! Wish we could have had mother nature bring the rain later, because we don't see much rain in Vegas and we're not used to playing in it. We want to thank everyone who voted for us for the 'sportsmanship' award. With some of the team drama we had this year, it was a big surprise to all of us and I personally took it to heart. It is a real honor to receive such an award and we appreciate it greatly. Thanks for an awesome weekend and looking forward to next year......

Acara,

I know how you feel, we went through the same senario. Before the semi-finals I went and asked if GTF was playing with 9 players as previously stated. I was told "No, you are going to play them straight up, fair and square". Like you, I didnt want to make it an issue, and was willing to play them 10 on 10. They are a tough team, and I have to admit, I was hoping to play 9 on 10, but didnt want to have anyone say we won because they only had 9. Did Skip actually play in the semi's and the finals? I was told a rookie came up to replace him. I would hate to think a player that threatened a refs life would be let back into this or any years SPPL.

You have to admit, this team gave up their prizes to another team at one of the qualifiers. That shows class and sportsmanship. To think that 1 player could have kept their team from 2nd place, and even worse, could have cost them the National title if they beat us. As a captain, that is not a player I would want on my team or representing the sport. It is sad when one player can ruin it for the whole team.

We were really looking forward to playing you guys in the finals, cause we had not played you. We heard you were a great team and we looked forward to the challenge. I look forward to playing you guys next year.

Darrick

playing you guys was the best game we have had in a long time....thanks. We also look at playing with the utmost respect for other teams, reffs and staff. We may not have had a top 3 finish but we (along with a few other teams) finished a penalty free tourny and thats gold in my books....Congrats to all the teams
