Pushing the power button is the same thing as pushing a safety button anyways. It's the same thing, with a different name. Why manufacture an electronic safety for a marker that technically already has a "safety"?

Mechs actually NEED it because you can't "turn of" a mechanical marker, though you can uncock them.

I just had my 98C repowder coated. So now when I try to turn off the safety, I actually have to force it off. At first this really made me mad. But as I used the marker more and more. I'm actually quite happy about it. It just makes it that much harder for me to accidently fire off my marker in bad situation.

personally, i think that mechanical "hard" safeties like on mech guns would not work on electros, because of the trigger design, but i would like to see something like a slider switch near the trigger, like right to the side of it, in the trigger gaurd, so it wouldnt get bumped on, but you would notice it and turn it on while leaving. then you wouldnt have to worry about your gun turning on in the pits and blowing out a barrel bag on ramping.

i hope that as guns advance, and blu-ray becomes more commonplace in equipment, systems are developed both for diagnostics for legalities, and so that when a marker leaves the field, it would leave a "zone" and turns off automatically, so players would just bag up and walk off, not worrying about on/off and safeties all together.

How about a button on the side or back of the frame?

Blu-Ray is a disk, your thinking of Bluetooth.

Most of us don't freak out playing paintball like a life/death defensive situation, but when that happens, you do experience body automatic response. You revert to automatic which means what you've been trained to do. For the average movie-goer, that's screaming in panic or freezing up. If you have any training, automatic is good, but even competition target shooters will freeze up during a match. You simply cannot operate that safety which was so simple a few minutes before, which iw why modern handguns often don't have push-button safeties.

What if there was a safety like that of modern hand guns, you know, like a secondary trigger thats on the back of the gun which stops it from firing unless your holding the gun firmly. any way, you could fit a safety to an electro, it could be a little break in the circuitry that is made complete when you turn the safety off, like a strip of copper around a plastic peg or somthing, just a thought.
If the person on the other end of your gun does not walk away from the game eagerly anticipating the next game because of your actions, you have failed as a paintballer. Put this in your sig to help spread the word.

EVERYONE that owns a paintball marker should have basic gun safty knowledge. I mean, if you see some n00bs pointing their markers in unsafe directions the refs should kick them out of the game or something. That's how people get hurt. Also, EVERY marker has a safty, it's called a barrel plug/sock.
