Revolvers are nice for their simplicity. Plus, we can't exactly get that Dirty Harry / Blondie feel with an autoloader. :P

I've got a question.

Should I get a regular shotgun barrel with a basic interchangeable choke or is a poly-choke worth it?

Does not sound like a good HD firearm at all.
Sure, his is the 2.5" version, but I doubt the 3" version would make a considerable difference.

The Judge is a great revolver for one reason: it's the most versatile platform out there.

It's a hunting gun/survival gun and a personal protection gun (against snakes or man, just choose a different load).

I have yet to meet a single firearm that can perfectly fit the bill for all of those at once.

Are .410s the best for shooting a bad guy? Maybe not, but .45 Colt with proper loads will do just fine.

Looks like the fun factor of shooting clays with a pistol might be a selling point if you have the land.

Waiting for my picatinny rails before I mount. Only one problem...I can't read the parallax or L/R windage with those scope rings. :(

Personally I think the judge rather pointless. It's a cool range toy but that's about it. I'd rather just shoot .45 colt shot shells to get the same effect out of a better gun.

One of a kind pump mag F/S/T Open AND stock class capable.

I gotta say, the UMP has a very striking appearance. I think it's the straight, fat .45 ACP mag that it uses.

Bleh. I hate how videogames screw up guns. Like in battlefield bad company (great game IMO) a lot of the guns sides are switched (like, the UMP and M16 ejection ports are on the left side)...and the reloading sequences are all drawn out and wasteful. For example, when reloading the M16/HK416, it pulls the charging handle and then hits the forward assist EVERY TIME. Like, really? And I've never seen a game use a bolt catch. Also the UMP is screwed up too. Every reload has the character open and lock the bolt before changing mags then slap it closed...um, there's a bolt catch on the thing too. And the damn bolt action rifles, it has to open the bolt before you reload that too. And you guessed it, it racks the slide of every pistol, pulls the charging handle of every rifle. And the AN-94 is also really misrepresented. Instead of the initial 2 round burst at 30 rounds per second then to 10 per second, it's more like 20 rounds per second through the whole mag. And that game is weird on mag cap. It's obviously boosted just for balancing or something, assault rifles have 50 rounds, SMGs (oh, and is a SCAR-L and AKS-74U an SMG?) have 60 and LMGs (even the MG36 with the Beta C-Mag) have 150 or 200 rounds.

Oh!, and the damn pump shotguns. What is with those? Especially halo 3, you have to pump the thing after you do ANYTHING with it. Take it out...pump. Fire...pump. Reload on a partially full tube...pump. Damn, it's not so hard to get that right!

/rant

Back to real life.

Rainbow Six is the only game that ever got guns right. COD4 got somewhat correct like with Assault rifles you just hit the bolt release after depleting a magazine. But the shotguns in R6 are the only correct ones I've ever seen. Reload a partial magazine and NO pump. But they do that in COD4. The reloading in Bad Company on Assault Rifles irritated the hell out of me. For some reason every time the idiot slapped the bolt forward I cringed.

In R6V2 they still used the charging handle on the UMP after an empty mag. It has a bolt catch like the AR15.

God, I like BC a lot, but the reloads are really ridiculous. Basically they fail in trying to copy real guns. But, they are Scandinavians, what the hell do they know about guns?

I'm looking to buy some cheap bulk ammo for my R15. I was looking on Cabelas and I found Wolf .223 1000 for $315. That's pretty damn cheap. Anyone have any experience with Wolf?

If that's the .223 my boss usually shoots, and I think it is, it will shoot fine, but it will take more effort at the end of the day to clean all the crap outta the barrel. He says if you let the crap cool in the barrel, you've got a long night of cleaning ahead.

Indeed- steel cased ammo in most guns is a little harsh on the guts, which is one reason I'm not a big fan of Wolf or any of those Russian-made cheapie brands (Mostly animals like Golden Bear, etc.) Quality control and manufacturing standards are WAY below U.S./European N.A.T.O. standards, and they often use poor quality materials in the manufacture of the powder and casings. I haven't shot much of the stuff after being unhappy with it, but a range buddy of mine shoots it quite a bit, though he's starting to see the light. In just his guns, I have seen several ammo-related failures and some serious brass failures in some of that ammo, including one which caused a nasty jam that required some expensive repairs. He also spends about twice the amount of time cleaning his guns.

I'd try and stick to surplus or new ammo from other countries that have better standards, but I suppose its OK for some range practice if you don't mind cleaning out he crap a.s.a.p.

Well, I'm off to the range Wednesday to teach a good friend to shoot pistols. I want to rent the Kimber like usual, as I don't plan on renting two pistols, 2 lanes, etc, but I don't think I want to take him right to a .45 off the bat. Probably go with a Sig or H&K, unless they have an XD-M available to rent, most likely in 9mm (ugh, I feel like I'm cheating on the .45 already). Just not a Glock. So wish me luck. I just gotta make sure to get 2 targets so I can differentiate his groups and mine.
