As requested by "yugyhs", a little bit about how I got into paintball in the first place.

And yeah, Photon was cool. If the place I've heard rumors about opens up in Chicago, I'm going...

I had a lot of fun at laser tag, also...but the one thing that bugged me most was when I'd eliminate someone...and then because they come back in 5 seconds or whatever they spent the whole game following you and shooting you in the back...until eventually you got pissed off and both shot eachother repeatedly..

Anyways: my one friend tried to get me to go out lots, but he always went with his older brother and his brother's friends (one of which hated me with a passion despite not knowing anything about me except we went to highschool on the same bus - my friend's brother never found out why) - they ALL had electros, so I wasn't excited about that.

I eventually decided I wanted to try, but with more people I knew so I set up a Father's Day game - it was excellent, we got about 20 people out (plus my friend and his brother + his friend). I had actually (in advance of that day) bought myself a used 98c (and my own friend got a used A5) and it served me well for a couple seasons. Though I only got out 2-3 times the first season.

Your garage is cleaner than mine. I don't even have a corner I could do a video shoot in.

Great intro to the sport and good call trying to find something to do besides cause trouble. I heard a few people talking about paintball my senior year of high school and decided to check it out. I graduated a few years after you did and was able to pick up a BE Stingray II starter kit at Walmart.

There wasn't anything like Photon around where I lived back in 1986/87. There were a couple of different shooter games you could buy from the store, Lazer Tag being the best known.

There was also Splat Tag, plastic guns with 10 round magazines filled with plastic "barbells" coated in a thick waxy paint. They weren't much bigger than a BB, had a very limited effective range, maybe 10' if you were lucky.

We also had some elector water guns that used disappearing ink.

We had fun with all of them. Then a friend of mine was absolutely ballistic over this new game he'd heard about... Paintball. Took him 2 weeks to convince enough of us to play. Been hooked ever since.
