I am wondering if i should get a spyder MR1 or Smart Parts Ion. I have played a couple games but i am wanting another gun that can actually impress some people. The only problem is I dont have a very large income and only have about 55 dollars right now. should i get an MR1. or is it worth waiting for an ion? :dodgy:

I say since your new to playing get an MR1. Also I would check on a BT-4 Combat that is a very reliable marker.

Welcome to the forums,

I'd have to say... save about 200 dollars and get an mr2, electric and milsim...

Well, it also depends on what you are playing. Correct me if I am wrong, but the mr1 is a lttle bulkier than the ion. If you want the high rate of fire and a little more compact package, go with the ion.

There is no question in my mind. Save your money, play a bit more and get the Ion. It will be well worth your wait.

Which reminds me I need to talk to Sean...

If money is hard to get mr1 if its easy get the iON,but no ifs or buts they are both really good guns.

try them both out but remeber there are more investments besides just the marker. your gonna need HPA tank or a Co2 anti siphon tank for the ion and a hopper that will kepp up with it. thought the ion is a pretty sweet gun for the price.

As much as I hate Ions and Ion owners, the Ion is better than any Spyder. Remember, that you would need an HPA tank and a faster hopper to keep up with the Ion. Oh yeah, the Ion doesn't impress anyone.

Exactly. You're not going to impress anyone with an Ion or MR1.

Play with what you feel comfortable playing with. What do you currently play with?

I know a guy who plays with a 98 custom and his only upgrade is a barrel.. yet he's good. Doesn't matter if you impress anyone or not, what matters is you're comfortable with what you have and you can play with it.

This isn't a good motive to have for paintball... it's nice, but at the same time, it's not a good idea to keep that in your head. You'll always find people above you in the paintball spectrum, and probably always people below you. You're never going to find a place where you can impress everyone, and odds are you won't do much to impress anyone else.

Lastly, Ion and MR1 both are not good choices for "impressing people" but they do what they are meant to do well: shoot paintballs.

Impressing people is not important. why would you purchase a marker just to impress? Im not impresed unless its a $1000 marker, but who cares no one will make fun of you because you play with a mr1, ion, or whatever and if they do then there considerd a big MALE REPRODUCTIVE ORGAN.

My intention is not to impress. it is to play paintball. i just dont want to be thought of as another noob who bought the first gun he saw. i currently play with a Viewloader Maxis and id rather have a gun for replacement or backup. (Ion to replace and make maxis backup) or (MR1 to replace or backup) Hope that cleared it up :dodgy:

Well like i said go try them out but keep in mind that these are 2 completely different guns the Ion being electro pnuematic and the mr1 being a blowback semi auto. If your looking for performance then jump on the band wagon and grab an ion but if you want something that stands out and play scenario games with get the mr1 but overall performance i think you will be much more happy with the Ion.

* Also a noob is a noob doens't matter if you play with a stingray or an angel people are gonna know if your pretty new to the sport so keep that in mind too.

Don't find a gun that simply impresses people. Get a gun that you like for its performance. People are more impressed by what you can do with the gun than what it looks like.
