For those that don't know the Canadian government seems to be in crisis.

We just had an election and voted the Conservatives in, with a second minority government. Seems the people in power aren't happy with that are were calling for a vote of confidence, something Harper is almost guaranteed to fail. To dodge this bullet (temporarily) he's dissolved Parliament until January (Or is it Feb?).

The Liberals and NDPs are clamoring for a Coalition government. It appears that the Bloc Quebecois is also on board for it. I have yet to hear if any of the smaller parties (Green, Animal Alliance Environment Voters, Canadian Action Party...) are looking to join in.

I'd like o see the Conservatives out but don't want the Liberals in. There are online and paper petitions circulating to STOP the Coalition from happening.

Should it go through I can't foresee anything good happening....

Thoughts? How will this affect our relations around the world?

Wow, you guys just need to keep Harper. He seems good enough. Anyway, why is this happening, he was voted in by the people. This is exactly how Palapatine took power, so whatch if anyone throws lighting, and if the sith on your side make sure they hit Quebec.

I don't neccessarily like the other parties that much, but they're allowed to do it - it's the whole point of a minority government. If everyone else decides do disagree with you, you loose. Harper lost even more credibility in my mind by trying to dodge the bullet like this, since he announced his mini-budget over a month ago but refused to actuall bring it to a vote. One thing to hope for, since the Coalition parties working together, they need to agree together. Hopefully that prevents them from going to extremely either way, although obviously they'll be a bit leftist.

I just want Harper out so bad... he's a complete hyprocrite. He's contradicted himself and backtracked on almost every damn issue since the minute he was elected. And I still haven't forgotten than this past election was actually illegal; Harper makes up his own rules, and then he breaks them too. I don't know how the hell he got 'elected' again

Canada uses a Parliamentary system that works a bit differently than ours. Coalition run administrations tend to be weaker & slower than majority administrations since the parties "in power" are often compromising just enough to keep the government functioning. Its an odd system...

See here's the difference between parliamentary democracy and democratic republic -- this same thing happens in Japan, India, I dunno about Britain.... anyway it's something you have to put up with if you want all the nicities of parliament.

Enjoy the crisis, I'm sure it's contagious and we'll catch it soon enough down here.

Personally, I like Harper, though I am not well versed on Canadian politics. Also, I thought what the Left of Center parties tried to do is very underhanded. Harper and the Conservatives were elected by the people. If the people wanted Left of Center parties to control the government, guess what? They would have been voted in. It just looks to me as a damned sorry way of doing business.

Cool. So that package will consist of 1 Barret M107 and 100 rounds? That should be enough for me to "fix" many of the political problems.
