Monday.July 23.2012.
Day 151.

getting down to about the final 30% of the downstairs of the barn. came across an old, small locker under a pile of scrap steel. opened it up and found a bunch of old photographs, prolly close to 50 or so, and in that same can my old kabar knife. i thought that old thing had been long, long gone, haven't seen it in years. it was like seeing an old friend, i took the time to pull out the stone and put a really nice edge on it, put neetsfoot oil all over the sheath, and blade, strapped it on and wore it the rest of the day. it was definately the best thing that happened today.

2 of them will be leaving me very shortly, actually one is already gone, I gave a fixed blade to my mom so she can stop wandering around with the 6 inch bear knife that is totally useless. My brother needs a good quality knife, so I'm giving him a nice one.

hey i think i might be related to you too ...second or third cousins twice removed ... ?

Lol...if you really want one of the knives, send me your address and I'll ship your choice to you...I buy becauase I love them, I give them away all the time as well.

Hey Mack, I'll take that lovely red towel or sheet that those knives are on as well as that green box razor :)

Those are some nice cases though. Can you post a better pic of the cases themselves??

Nice Merrells.

My Outland Mid Waterproofs are the single best pair of shoes I've EVER owned. A pair of Nike Tactical boots are next on the list, but I'll wear those Merrells until they can't be duct taped together.

LOL ... sure.. i'll take them all ..BWAHAHAHA ... j/k ... you're nicer than i deserve..keep them, you never know when you will need a knife, i literally use a knife at least a few times every day for something. but i understand your obsessive compulsive thing for them.. i feel the same way, can't pass by some without looking hard and sometimes buying .. i am the same way with flashlights and multitools .. god, i have DRAWERS of both those things ... it's a horrible addiction .. i need a twelve step program for them .. haha

i probably would do well to get some boots, insulated, something. i've got some old old boots that i am not sure they still fit, and a couple pair of cleats and tennies... i really had not thought of boots.. good call

Some of Merrell's lower end offerings seem to have slipped in quality, but I love mine. Bonus, I got the $140 boots clearanced to $49.99.

Gore-tex, anti-microbial liners, traction lugs like a tractor tire, enough cushioning to to jumping jacks in a rucksack in. Waterproof, lightweight, yadda yadda. The strings were pure "FILTERED" but I replaced those with an equal length of 550 cord.

i am the same way with flashlights and multitools

I've leaned to control that problem, but that dosent mean I dont carry one or 3 of them :) I carry a Gerber and a Letterman multitool, and a MAG mini flashlight with single bulb LED upgrade...best flashlight out there.

Heres just what I carry on my belt. I use to carry more, but I started to attract to much attention. I wear it like a gun belt...on the outside of my belt loops :) It goes on every morning when I leave my room and dosent come off till its time to take my boots off. The Bear Grylls knife is an experimental test run on whether or not its any good. Already lost the fire starter for it after owning it 6 months..good thing is you can get replacements for $5. The MAG light is my pride though. I sanded all the checkering off of it ( which was REALLY hard actually..even though it is aircraft aluminum ) and polished it up. And thats the light on with my room light on, its the brightest bulb I've come across for a 2 AA flashlight, and it has really good life time.

I like the idea of a utility belt, but I'd prefer one kind of like Hellboy's, a couple of pouches, room to clip stuff on, gun holster (if needed).... I like the look of leather but I've never compared the weight of a leather belt to a similar nylon web belt. I would guess that the leather is heavier, but which in more durable in the long run?

Depends. Heavy leather, well cared for, will be more comfortable and last damn near forever. But that is expensive, and will take plenty of oil for treatment.

Nylon webbing is more water resistant, takes less maintenance, is lighter, and cheaper. That's why the .mil uses it.

Here's a basic first line Web Kit/LBE belt.

Just got my tax returns (don't ask...). Got about $300-350 to play with out of it (after I pay some bills and stuff that I've been sitting on since I didn't work for 2 weeks).
Though, I think it may just start the 'Buy a Compact XDm' fund. Concealing my full sized one isn't the easiest thing in the world.

My job is to be an asshole. I excel at the position.

time is dwindling down. i make a great deal of my purchases on line and within the next three to four months i won't send any money over the www. i will have to find deals locally, trading, bartering, being a giggolo .. whatever .. lol

so if i am going to pull the trigger on that hennessy hammock, i need to do it soon.

speaking of money, will any of you be pulling their funds out of their prospective banking facilities ?

You mean robbing banks... I have no need for money, other than to start fires :)lol

We've got some debt we'd like to get paid off, but after that, screw money and we're gone.

Darn you, I want a hammock. But I found out that the truck had a crap front end. Hortons Trucks in Florida is a RIP OFF. They said they replaced our trucks whole front suspension after the 6 car pile up it got into...they didn't fix crap. they took the parts off, straitened the frame and put them back on. And that was 80,000 miles ago. Yep we should have had the front end aligned and checked long ago, but hey when you say your going to do something, FREEKIGN DO IT.

So theres about a grand down the hatch on a complete new front end.

Well, other than "camping" gear and the usual guns and ammo, I'm pricing heavy duty fighting knives, both a fixed and a folder. I've got a decent clutch of utility, EDC, survival, and kitchen knives, but nothing designed solely for inducing sucking chest woulds. I aim to remedy that deficiency.

A 7" Randall #1 or 14 would be baller, but my budget for this particular toy is a lot lower. Even below a Cold Steel R1 or TSD Universal Fighting Knife.
