if i caught someone laying a trip wire...

they probably wouldn't do it again, to say the least.

their gun may end up "tripwired" into a tree.

The only time a tripwire should be used shoud be in the case of a booby trap, like a land mine. It should be thread, not fish line and never wire, that way the line can break if too much force is applied.

So, I should stop using my Piano Wire Claymore?

Yeah, these kids are dumb. They've watch one too many war movies and think that all applies to paintball.
We had one kid try this at our field. Lucky for us, the moron fell over his own line. I lit him up for it. He doesn't come back.

Having fallen hard in the woods without the assistance of a trip wire and gashed my shins pretty bad, this story just frightens me. We don't need people adding injury hazards to an environment that already furnishes enough.

I hope the people involved in setting up the malicious trap are prosecuted to the fullest extent and made to pay damages to the injured player. This went a step beyond thoughtless and straight into malicious territory.
Good luck, Goldy.

Actually, if you've got the cash I'd suggest considering in an electronic system (You can DIY a laser system if you really wanted too). Safe, and efficient.

Just a question on this. Has this field contacted nearby fields on this inceident? No offense, but it would be stupid not to. They should give them descriptions of the kids and tell them what happend. That way, the other fields can keep an eye out for them and keep an eye on them if they do come around.

I also believe that trip mines should only be used when triggering a booby trap.

I'm glad to hear that they are banned from your field. I hope that made them quit paintball. I cant stand when people do stupid things like this.

25$ at radio shack for a motion detector. slap a piece of electric tape to the top to waterproof it and wire it to your device and it should work. there is still a chance that some one would just steal it and then you would be out 25 bucks. you would probably have to mod it to conceal it. pretty good idea though
