i was listening to some tunes and was wondering if the same reason you turn up the volume to have the sounds easier to hear if you could buy a cheap hearing amplifier and mount it to your gun or something and run a head phone to your ear and please givereason T.Y :)

EDIT: there were two yesses

Think of how loud it will be when you fire. I honestly thing you will get just to much background noise to make any difference in you game. With those you can not determine the direction of the noise, like you can with your ears.

Paintball guns probably count just low enough on the decibel rating that it won't shut off the amplifier to protect your ears.
Yeah I use an M-16 grip, wanna fight about it?

Best webcomic ever.

all right didnt think of the auto shut off but if you strap the mic to the side of your barrel pointing foward you should be able to tell direction of where you point the barrell

Couple of things...

First I have seen this tried in the field multiple times. Even with a high end game hunter setup, it's not worth it. Just trust me on that.

As for the sound of the gun, must of the ones made for hunting have a built in dampener or shut off for high decible sounds because they are designed to be used hunting.

I don't think they would really give much advantage in paintball. I've seen guys in the military try them out. I know one guy who bought a large parabolic "PI" type system and it was a piece of junk and not worth the cash.

Just my thoughts.

glad I noticed this topic!

I've been wondering about using a hearing amp device for sometime now.

but honestly, I have a ICOM radio w/ a breeze headset in one ear. I didn't want to have another device in the other ear.
Just seems like too many devices and not enough natural instincts.

You will see them before you hear them most likely.

you don't need one, your ears are better than those when it comes to paintball. but if you want to try it, then go ahead.

if you attach that to your gun all your going to hear is the scraping of a bush against your gun and that would kill your ear when you fire... your ears work fine

Not really a good idea for paintball, human ears are good enough on their own let alone using an amplifier.

Nope i wouldnt use it. Paintball is a pretty loud game you can almost always here a gun firing and the amplifier would pick up guns firing and thats all you would get is everyone on the field that is firing.
