Does any one know if it is safe to grind off the carry handle on marker?

disasemble, take a dremel to the carry handle
then use a metal file to file the edges smooth and equal

as long as u act intelegent about it...safety glasses and all

oh and have something ready to cover the holes

As DRP said, you can take a Dremel to it but honestly I'm not sure if you should.

Without seeing the two clamshells and looking at how everything works inside I would be cautious about telling you one way or the other as you might end up making your marker inoperable.

i would use a dremel but without taking the marker apart, cut the handle, leave about a half inch left and use a small grinding/sanding disk and the make as flush as desired. finish off with a hard rubber wheel to get a smooth finish and paint if desired.
