I purchased a new pair of magnum stealth boots and use them for play and at work(construction worker) and this is what i found.Almost as lite as my nikes with boot support and the coolest (heat wise) boot i have ever had.I now know the reason the cops use these because they are excellent on my 42 year old feet. The extra zipper the stealth has make them easier to get off which is nice because they are a form fitting boot that would need more unlacing to get off with out this feature than a normal boot. The surplus store that i purchased them at said the non zippered version is the new army running boot but this i do not know but if they are the army made a wise choice.I paid 80 bucks for mine and have paid more for lesser boots and will purchase another pair when these wear out.Five star rating for the best boots i have ever owned.

Magnum Boots are really good boots for any type of anything you can possibly imagine but, there is one problem wit them....they wear out too fast, Ive gone through 3 pairs in 2 years and that some serious walking and running in them boots since I work as a secuirty guard which requires me to do lots of walking around when conducting my rounds and responding to emergency calls from the clients Im subcontracted to, the last pair of Magnums I had was last year...and I really wore them out to the point that my feet were killin me because the tread patterns on the boots were completely flat, lookin like a bald tire.

This weekend I tried out the Magnum Stealth boots. The style I tried are identical to the ones available in the Spec Ops store. My last "Boot" expirence was with Vietnam era combat boots. So I was somewhat skeptical about these. Even with Blue's Crew raving about them, I tried them out.

When I tried them on, directly out of the box, I was VERY surprised how comfortable they were. It was like putting on sneakers, not boots. And I played in them the whole weekend, no blisters, no sores, nothing. Damned comfy.

I didn't like the laces on them, becasue they're too thin. I'll use them 'till they wear out, and replace them with something a little more substantial. Also, the 6 inch boots feel like they need to be cinched at the top a little bit, but that's a feel thing.

I also got a size 12, but realistically I could get away with an 11.5. They run big. VERY big. Wide foot people rejoyce, they'll fit you.

I'm going to play the hell out of them this summer, I'll reply to this post a longer term review.

You may wanna change your boots again Tyger, Magnum recently came out wit some new boots (similar to mine) that are already laced up, but wit a zipper on the side....for easy removal from you feet when your DAWGS are barkin to be released.

The side zipper has actually been an option for some time time now, they just cost a bit more. They are identical to their "lace up" model except for that feature. :D

I agree that magnums wear out too fast. They are manufactured to wear out. I used to love these boots, but I went through atleast one pair a year. They typically wear out the canvas near the ankles, and the soles suffer too.

I prefer Danner Boots, they are a little pricier, but the soles are guaranteed for the life of the uppers. And the upper last about 3-4 yrs heavy use. Personally I have never worn a sole on of a Danner.

Where did you all get your Magnums from? The only ones SpecOps sells is Size 8 and that's too small for me, so now I'm looking around for them

You can look around on eBay and find them for around $30-40, thats where I usually get mine:)

If not, your local Police/EMS supply store will probably sell them as well, but you will pay the general retail price of about $50ish.

Isn't engineered obsolesence a beautiful thing? They can make you pay $80 for soemthing year after year.

Oh, and I just checked out the Danner website. Nice boots, but for that price, they should be!

Don't even get me started on Magnum boots, or anything else made by HiTec. I wrote a review of boots from the results of the ones I have used and I'll never buy another pair of those again. I have them chances with two pairs of Magnums and one pair of some others I forgot, and I hated them all. I will see if I can find my review. I only bought them because they were cheap and seemed to be cool in the summertime. Big mistake...I got what I paid for!

My personal favorites for the summer are Corcoran Field Boot II, or in a pinch the Carolina "GI" boots (their model name, they are not issue) but I haven't seen the Carolinas for a few years. I still have mine though, and they shine up good.

And for the winter NOTHING and I mean NOTHING (I trained with the 10th Mountain Division and I live in New England, so I know) beats the maroon-interior Matterhorns (not the yellow or grey ones). Granted they are probably the most expensive "combat" boot on the market, but nothing even comes close.

I've tried just about every boot brand and model you can imagine that I can wear at work or in the Guard, so I can comment on many others if you want...

BTW our work standards are leather uppers/leather lowers, at least 8" height, and capped toe and heel. Zippers are fine, anything else is fine, as long as it adheres to those standards.
